Long ago I wanted to check it out as Keiko Kitagawa, the actress who plays Sailor Mars in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is in it (as I'd recently seen the series). She plays Hans' tech girl Reiko who handles some of his repairs. She's in a few scenes and has like... two lines. Anyway I wound up liking the movie overall, but I've never felt like watching the others. Maybe one day that will change. I later saw the 2008 film Never Back Down and it seemed to have the exact same story. Tokyo Drift is kinda shitty, the main character is a drawling "my mother's my sister" kind of country boy. Not even the Han character or Sonny Chiba as a yakuza member can redeem that movie, only Vin Diesel redeeming Han as a character of worth and recontextualizing his role in Tokyo Drift saves Han as a character. Then the movies get pretty dogshit from F8. There's a sweet spot between Fast Five and FnF 7 where the movies are really good, but they do rely on the earlier movies and like welding them together as a "family" story to make the franchise good. So basically, by Fast and Furious 7, you'll be glad you watched the prior six movies. Until then, they're okay action schlock that you should turn your brain off for. --- People say friends don't destroy one another - what do they know about friends? If he can do it inside a police station I don't see why he can't do it in prison. In release order isnt Canon order.
