The thing is, the court already ruled back in 2006 that boycotts alone aren't speech under the law because on their own, they're just economic activity, and the speech part is explaining the economic activity, not the refusal to buy. Already a trash decision and you can expect the Supreme Court to follow it.

Boycotts are speech point blank period and it takes tortured lawyer logic to conclude otherwise. This is why people hate lawyers.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but even without the First Amendment, how the can the government be allowed to control who people choose to buy and sell to, with the possible exception of something involving national security? Can they really forbid you from not buying or selling to someone and encouraging others to do the same?

The Supreme Court will have a field day with this case, especially because it involves Israel. This is one of the rare cases where, if the Conservative Justices were real Conservatives, it might benefit the American people. Most of the older conservatives I know would be horrified by this ruling, as voting with your dollar is one thing most every older person I know believes in quite strongly.

The Supreme Court has the ability to say it is protected by the 9th amendment if they dont want to consider it speech. They wont because pretending that very important amendment doesnt exist is the way things normally work.
