Like really, really really good. Way better than I expected it would be.

Also Della is a great addition.

Even with the huge amount of nostalgia I have for the original, I still think the new series is better.

It's much better-written, for sure.

The self-aware humor is really what makes it work.

I'm kind of surprised they actually explored the dynamic of Donald coming to terms with being a surrogate father - that's kind of deep for Disney.

Saw a few episodes with my kid. I dunno maybe the "deepness" makes it a better show, but what I liked about it as a kid was all the different mythology based settings and stories.

Although I'm not sure I like the idea of Darkwing Duck being rewritten as a television show within the DuckTales universe, I did like the episode where the old Darkwing Duck actor has to come to terms with the fact that his time has passed but the theme and values of Darkwing Duck are timeless. To truly be Darkwing Duck, he needs to gracefully pass the mantle.

I try to sell people on Ducktales 2017 every chance I get. It's one of my favorite shows to come out in the last five years and arguably one of the best rebooted series I've personally seen. The writing is smart and full of heart, characters have much deeper / more unique personalities (especially Donald Duck, never thought I'd live to see Donald Frickin' Duck given actual depth and complexity), and the wealth of references / callbacks are thoughtful and world-expanding instead of just being memberberries.

Incidentally (since this observation has been bugging me for awhile but was never worth its own topic), I find it bitterly hilarious that the character of Mark Beaks was written to be a Mark Zuckerberg parody, but time has shown Beaks to be far more eerily reminiscent of Elon Musk.

They still have a bunch of stories based on different mythologies.

i was surprised when i found out Abed from Community voiced one of Donald's nephews. and ofc he had to be the nerdy one. lol

You know it's good since Disney decided to stop making it at the S3 point despite making them money, the fanbase was positive about it, and the creative team was perfectly willing to continue making more....

I've come to accept the hard truth that shows this well-written tend to burn out quickly and usually don't have that long of a lifespan quality-wise). There are exceptions to this, but hell, even something as revolutionary as MP's Flying Circus only lasted 3 seasons before the quality took a nosedive. S3 of Ducktales 2017 is still great, but it does start to dip a bit, and there's a good chance that a 4th season would have dipped much more noticeably (plus the show was finally starting to get bloated with callbacks and side characters by the end).

There was also the underlying theme where each season was devoted to one of the triplets: S1 was Dewey's season, 2 was Louie's, and 3 was Huey's. We could have gotten a 4th season for Webby, sure, but she had prominent arcs in S1 and S3, so I'm not too miffed about that.

Yup, its pretty awesome.

I saw some of it a few years ago. Seemed pretty good.

Changing the maid into a super beefy secret agent was a weird change or direction, but it was kinda funny.

It wouldn't be the first time in Animated history that the maid was a secret bad ass.

Unfortunately, it got cancelled with a finale tagged on the end to avoid awkwardness.

Disney just did not feel it was worth throwing into the 2020 life raft...

I agree with this. Best reboot I have ever seen with writing that is unparalleled. I sing this shows praises every chance I get.

It was fantastic and Disney choosing to end it makes no sense

It does suck when a show you like end earlier than you'd have preferred, but I think that is better than it overstaying its welcome.

I dont know if that is the case with Ducktales though. I thought that was more to Disney rarely extending a show past 3 seasons.

Bradford tried to get rid of the Ducks all their life while Disney accomplished that mission on a whim....
