b) I occasionally post here frequently, I occasionally don't for years at a time. I literally don't care.

Contacting your local dsa if you're convinced of their use at this point is one of the best things. If not the dsa there are other grass roots focused groups. This is the only way.

It's also worth noting the role unions in general played in this. I hope I don't need to explain to anyone why union folk tended on the whole to be more socially progressive, and how that altered the Democratic party, slowly but dramatically, over the years.

*shrug* All you gotta do to see the flip is look at the maps in relation to the party affiliation. The pro-slavery Dems and anti-slavery Republicans didn't all magically trade their houses with each other. Party positions often shift throughout American history, it's not exactly a secret; we can track these shifts from year to year. The Republican party used to be more pro-choice than the Democratic party, too. *shrug*

I would have thought all ye olde Dixie Democrats screaming about the states' rights to slavery would have made it pretty clear that there was a shift regarding whether or not states should have the power to shit on civil rights within said party, but I guess not.

anyway this source claims the parties "switched" after republicans freed the slaves, between 1860-1936 and they claim they don't know exactly when the switch happened and how....that's the span of almost 80 years, don't you think such a claim deserves more info than that? people that switched parties ect? facts like how democrats were the racists with the slaves and later the party of the kkk and jim crow, so still racist, after 1936 and then the congress in the south didn't turn republican until 1994 are irreconcilable with that source. i need an explanation as to why republicans including trump put lincoln as the symbol of the party and themselves if they're the same racist group.

There is no rational basis for banning abortion. There are plenty of reasons to want abortion rates to be lower, but there are far more effective ways to achieve that goal that don't involve declaring that women have less right to their own bodies than corpses and don't have major consequences for women's health (one of which is ensuring ready access to contraception, which the SC is also looking to undermine because - surprise, surprise - this is all a self-righteous circle jerk and not a legitimate effort to solve real problems). There is no more justification for banning abortions to solve that problem (even if we accept that it's a social problem and not an individual decision that the law should not factor into, which is tenuous at best) than there is for chopping your arm off to get rid of a broken fingernail.
