I also agree with this 100%. It seems a lot of would be Democratic voters expect to agree 100% with people they vote for while Republicans will just vote in people like Donald Trump, Steve King, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, etc. and hand wave all of the bullshit they've been responsible for just to achieve a goal like overturning Roe v. Wade or tax cuts for the wealthy.

Also, the whole "defund the police" movement has been such a fractured mess that likely contributed to Republican gains in federal representation. It means different things depending on who you ask.

Republicans ran with that and just told their base that it means democrats are trying to remove police from the equation entirely, supported by video of crowds of people loudly and angrily announcing the intention to remove police from the community entirely.

The police unions are some of the strongest in the country. There is no reason any union should be backing GOP candidates but for the dems supporting the defund the police fringe.

The dems are just inept and cant keep portions of the voter pools that should be anti-Republican because they have been mismanaging their messaging and backing dumb fringe movements.

Just to be clear, the actual democratic party has not supported defunding the police. Most have increased police budgets.

But yes, voters are low info and highly ignorant and will incorrectly think that what randos say on Twitter is equivalent to what the party is doing.
So messaging control does need to be better for that reason.

The only way to keep places safe is for the members of a community to be invested in keeping it safe. This isn't done with police, it's done by eliminating the poverty conditions that keep individuals focused on their own survival rather than building a community.

Nah, fuck the police

Mind anyone here in Philadelphia, police are already overwhelmed with the major rise in gun violence to a degree people are resigning from duty which leads to not just a funding problem, but also morale retention.

The case was always for police reform, not defunding them and I wish more folks were open minded towards that idea because the community sure as fucking shit isn't gonna do anything to protect your PS5s from getting stolen or your torso from getting a bullet.

Which would, again, suggest you aren't reading my posts at all. I've made a number of posts ITT talking about how higher quality individuals in policing would lead to better policing, but sure, go ahead and keep ignoring that.

Those two things should be the same thing. Laws should be in place to keep communities safe. If they are not there is a big problem.

i mean whatever that is. But LA pay doesnt even compare to the rest of the country. Departments NYPD, LA, Chicago. Those are massive departments with a billion things going on. A cop in Georgia rural areas probably makes 20 bucks an hour

From the glassdoor I found that GA police make starting 56K. Average salary in GA 51K.

So she says that many police in GA are not making a living wage. That means that half the state isn't making one. And once more that is starting pay, not OT or what they get as they put more time in.

And this is the first time she tweeted about living wage. On for a group that makes more then average.

Tell me how many votes do you think that will help her win. Compare to votes it will lose her.

GA is a red state so this is a solid move.
