I'm pissed today

Restaurant I work at finally started to allow card tips yesterday and up through today I made about $50 each day which is more than the usual $5 I get if I'm lucky (place with a tip jar so not actually tipped wages)

Turns out after my shift ended, he turned off the credit card tips because "The people working up front shouldn't be making that kind of money" and "People will stop coming here if they see the option to tip and that'll cost ME money"

When I finally felt decent about my job situation for a day this happens

Then either the speakers volume control is messed up or less likely the sound card drivers might need to be reinstalled. Have you tested it with headphones? if you can try plugging headphones into your audio jack on the pc and see if the volume holds steady.

Another good one that people never talk about is Dread Out. Plays a lot like a fatal frame game. I hear part 2 is even more like FF. I need to try it.

How is that game? I remember getting a phone call from my old man a while back, he's big into horror stuff and he mentioned he was excited about this. In your list of horror titles, where would it fall ranking wise?

all I know is htat the Super Best Friends did a video about Visage during one of their halloween marathons and it was legit one of the freakier games they've done

Visage is one of the scariest games i have ever played, and i play a lot of horror titles.

You play through 4 chapters of people that lived in the same house and went through traumatic events (Think AHS Murder House). ALOT of fucked up shit happens to these people (The first 30 seconds of the game is you killing your tied up family and then yourself, and it goes downhill from there).

It takes inspiration from games like Silent Hill and PT. A lot of the scare factor isnt from jump scares, but more about things you cant see but know are there (i wont spoil it).

In terms of rankings, i would rank it very high as a pure horror experience. A blind run through 4 chapters trying to get everything you can will take at least 10 hours. Replayability is kinda lackluster, because you dont get new modes or anything. And once you know how to do everything, you can zip through it quickly. But that first playthrough is a real doozy if you dont know whats coming.

The Delorese chapter is one of the most fucked up things ive played in a game to date. Its got some real hardcore moments in it.

If you are a horror fan, it is a must play.

Tormented Souls

Fatal Frame (Specifically 2,3 and 5)

Silent Hill (Specifically 3 and Downpour (Downpour has some of the best side mission lore in any game i have ever played))

Resident Evil (REmake 1, OG RE2 and REmake 2, Revelations 2)

Them and Us (A modern RE like game)

Corpse Party Book of Shadows (great scares in that one. Both Jump and the kind you notice after staring at something for long enough) has a great companion Anime too

Phasmophobia (best co op horror game out there IMO)

Cry of Fear (good lore and cheap scares that dont wear out their welcome. also totally free to play on steam)

Yume Nikki (its love it or hate it. I love it)

Kuon (kinda hard to find, but if you do play it, its a blast)

The cool thing about 5 was the detail they put into the level design IMO. The recent HD port really shows it off more.

Grinding out spirit points is also not much of a chore (which is nice, because there is so much to level up).

The lore is all there and is the usual Fatal Frame goodness about cults and sacrifices. And the battles are challenging and require a bit of effort beyond loading up some Type-90 film and going HAM.

That and the outfits are awesome. I love my Ryza outfit. I wish they included the OG outfits on the PS4 version (at least pc can mod them back), but the selection is still good.

As for penumbra/amnesia/soma

I liked Penumbra. Its a bit antiquated these days unless they overhauled it recently

Amnesia i never got the appeal for. I like the big spooky house, but i find it to be a bit boring. A machine for pigs i like a little more because it was more linier and the story was so absurd that it was funny.

Never played SOMA. Always heard good things, but never got around to it.

Some other good mentions are Eternal Darkness and The Evil Within (especially the Executioner DLC. I love to play as the bad guy. And as far as body horror games go this has it in spades)

I don't think you're wrong in that Amnesia can be a bit boring at times, but I'm a sucker for good atmosphere and I think it has that nailed pretty well. I think Outlast is the better game overall, but ADD was a good ride all of those years ago.

FEAR is great too. I just wish the 3rd game didnt get so silly with the co op brothers. But the first 2 were proper great.

Also liked Outlast 1 and 2 for a playthrough. That was one of the first PS+ games after Contrast and Stick it to the Man on PS4 IIRC.

Just do what I do and pretend FEAR 3 doesn't exist because in an ideal world, it wouldn't lmao.

Wow, didn't think I'd hear someone else mention Contrast. My wife absolutely loved that game years back, that and Alice : Madness Returns were her go-to games for a while.

I see they ported Madness returns to steam again after taking it off years ago. Im mad because i bought it on Origin, and origin is awful. That game is a trip too and makes me glad im not a girl growing up in victorian london. Fuck that noise.

In my case, the origin version came with a copy of American McGees Alice. It may be accessible in the menu of madness returns.

So, completely off-topic here. My kids love the new Sonic movies right? They were talking about it this morning, and I figured I'd show them Sonic Adventure, something I digged back on the DC well over 20 years ago now.

The thing that made me laugh, is that my soon-to-be-three year old absolutely loved watching me play it, he thought it was amazing. My eldest on the other hand? "Game looks terrible, it's so bad". Bonkers to be honest. I'm pretty sure the Steam version has upgraded visuals over the original too lol.

Kids these days dont appreciate the classics. All my daughter plays is VNs and dating sim crap. I tried to get her into some shooters or co op, but no dice.

And the baby is only 3 months, so we have some time before he plays anything at all.

Sonic will always be timeless.

about 20 years ago or so i was playing FF7 on my PS1. my younger cousin came over and just bitched and moaned about the graphics. she'd play the shit out of NES but FF7 was just terrible lmao.

Devotion was not only taken down cause of bullshit reasons, but it's actually a good ass game. Played through it a year ago and really enjoyed it. Highly recommend you go the extra distance to get your hands on it.

While we're on the subject of horror games, the Suffering 1 and 2 are both on GOG. Amazing series right there
