Biggest shock to me isn't that this happened so soon after Roe was overturned.
It's that Indiana is less far-right nutso than Ohio.
WTF happened to that state? It used to be purple!

The politicians all need to have a mic shoved in their faces and asked that question.
Mike Huckabee used to grift people as a "compassionate conservative" but then defended a young girl in a South American country being forced to give birth to her *magical-R-word-that-I-can't-say* (hi, mods!) baby. The ensuing outrage completely killed his political career.

This is why men shouldn't make policy for women's health issues lol

There have been 5 year olds that had hormonal disorders raped by their fathers and uncles that were forced to give birth

Girls can get their periods very young. I got mine at 10. That meant I could have gotten pregnant.

I dont know how anyone can be surprised about what is happening. Half the country had trigger laws in place to effectively ban abortion the moment Roe was overturned, thats been known for decades.

A 10 year old girl needing an abortion should always, without exception, result in an arrest. The USA is so fucked up that the girl is the one most likely to be arrested.

It's not. Ohio just had a trigger law so they could ban abortion right away. Indiana is chomping at the bit to pass their own law and should have abortion banned in short order. But thanks to the demographics of Ohio, it's likely shifted to a reliably red state and essentially turned into another Indiana.

Ok. But Indiana did NOT have such a trigger law. And over a dozen red states had them, it wasn't some novel concept. How did it even get put in place to begin with in Ohio and not Indiana w/o Ohio's GOP being more extreme than even Indiana's?
So that means either Ohio truly is as extreme or more than Indiana now, or the GOP there wildly overstepped the bounds of their voters and they should pay for it dearly this fall.
Guess it's up to the voters there to confirm if Ohio is a pro-child pregnancy shit hole or not. The rest of us are watching. Even Alabama said no to Roy Moore. Are you Ohioans really worse than Alabama?

It was about to say this is assuming the person I got her pregnant was a legal adult, but it's very likely it was another minor since we would have probably heard about it in the news story because that's a pretty big controversial story.

But then you go saying that the girl would probably be arrested? As far as I know it's not illegal to cross state lines to get an abortion. Even if it was she still a minor and wouldn't it be held legally responsible because I doubt she went on this trip herself I'm sure one of her parents drove her.

What's crazy is, it's the executive branch that controls the military and is in charge of enforcing SC edicts. Biden wants to maintain normalcy whilst the right is happily feeding it into the wood chipper.
If the SC keeps tyrannically going against the will of the people to the point they've had enough, I hope Biden doesn't choose killing citizens over letting the SC face the consequences of their actions.
Something something tree of liberty, something something.

Eeyup. It really sucks that the two-party system means you can't vote for tax breaks without also voting for this, but that's the reality of the matter: Anyone who voted for Trump voted for this. This is the consequence of that action, and no amount of "I didn't ask for it" changes that.

Problem with abortion is the super religious people and the fact most people don't know when "Life" actually begins.

I am 100% all for abortion and it being the sole choice of the woman. However I can see how the other people feel the way they do. The fact is, in their beliefs it is murder, plain and simple. And unless that religious aspect, or the fact of when "life" really begins, we will always have people fight to ban abortions.

I think the youngest documented live birth was at 11.

Privacy considerations may limit publication of the accused's name, especially if the accused is a brother in good standing.

Facilitation of a crime across state lines, would put the parents and others that helped them, in legal jeopardy.

And unless that religious aspect, or the fact of when "life" really begins, we will always have people fight to ban abortions.

I generally don't try to argue that fetuses aren't human or otherwise don't count as a life simply because there's no concrete basis for that. Any line you draw is going to be arbitrary, and using a personal comfort/convenience as the basis for it doesn't sit right with me (nor many others), so I just don't do that.

Instead, I accept that abortion means killing a human (we'll avoid the word "person" because it's pretty loaded). Sometimes, though, killing humans is better than the alternative. Self-defense is the most obvious one (and really, a woman would be justified in killing somebody to prevent them from forcing a small watermelon into her vagina, so killing somebody to prevent them from doing the equivalent from the other direction seems similarly justifiable), but you also get instances of taking people off of life support (usually due to quality of life considerations), or the more indirect example of letting somebody die by choosing not to donate tissues/organs that would have saved them.

That last point is perhaps the most salient: Countless lives could be saved by harvesting and transplanting every viable organ and requiring every person to donate blood as often as possible. But we don't do that, because saving those lives is treated as secondary to respecting the bodily autonomy of the donors. Except when we look at pregnancy. Pregnant women are ethically and now legally pressured into donating their bodies for the sake of their child's life, with all the health complications that come with that, and that's just not okay. When a literal corpse has more bodily autonomy than a pregnant woman, that's a problem.
