Just beat the first palace and didnt come anywhere close to dying. Does it get harder?

Also how important is the whole execution / persona combining thing as it looks clunky as duck and so far not had to use it at all to progress.

On medium I'd give it like a 4/10 on difficulty. You have to pay attention sometimes and sometimes you will run low on supplies, but it's mostly mindless. Use the element they're weak to, hit em, do the group attack thing, etc

As for the second point, not super important on medium. You can get away with only half knowing what you're doing

What difficulty are you playing on

In general though, the hardest segment of the game is the first palace (imo), so if you didn't have trouble there then you're probably not going to have trouble with the rest of the game.

Uh, speedrunning Ann pickup is not recommended

Harder? hm not really, though stat boosting stuff gets more important later on.

its just an easy way to get stronger persona. you could try just using the ones you find in the dungeons, but that'd be boring imo.

plus, the fusion system makes the social system worth it with the bonus leveling you get for fusing. you can make a persona several levels higher than your character and just blow everything up.

though i once knew someone who only used Izanagi while playing Persona 4 Golden. i said "but he literally stops learning things at like, level 10" and she was like "what?"

When I played P5R, it was a pretty easy JRPG with an occasional difficulty spike.

Is this royal? Lots of players experience a difficulty spike on the 5th palace but it's mostly attributed to people neglecting a signature battle mechanic.

Yeah Royal. I had played P5 before and didnt think Id found that as easy so what you say makes sense.

In terms of the executions. Is it just a case of wanting the highest level possible or is there more to it? I get you can inherit special moves but they all just kinda meld into one so I have no idea what is good and what isnt. Its more I feel like I have no direction and wouldnt even be able to tell what was good or bad because of how easy the game feels anyway.

Very minor gameplay spoilers for the boss

The 5th palace boss on Royal on hard is stupid since you need to use the single use weakness attack items for your party members who only have one type of elemental attack to keep baton passes going. The issue is that you never had to use these items up until that boss fight, and if you never bought any you might not have enough to get through the fight.

Only time I remember having issues was with the added phases for the bosses in Royal. Which I still think are padded bs

They provide way too many buffs and changes to the game from the original that just makes you an overbearing force no matter what difficulty you play on.

Maniac mode a lot of times is easier than hard since you deal increased elemental weakness damage too. But yeah, 99% of Royal is easy no matter what the difficulty is if you are anything familiar with the Megaten battle system.

They get harder. The hardest part is effectively managing your time and getting everything done

The registering thing? That was a relief when I saw that. I was worried Id have to go out and recapture everyone!

P5 was harder in general than Royal, but Royal had new boss mechanics and as someone else mentioned, for the 5th boss it matters to take advantage of it or else you can uhhh... kinda get in an infinite loop. Don't fight solo and you'll be good.

I found it to be the easiest in the series
