feeling completely mercurial today. these matches (all three of them, incredibly) are close enough that I feel like I'd switch pretty easily, and that's a sure sign for me to hold off on voting. I'll mention that I enjoy every track today; more specific remarks:
-wir fliegen is probably my favourite xcx track in the contest, which surprised me when I realized it (during the making of the megamix). it sometimes reminds me of Blumenkranz, for fairly obvious reasons, and I love that song. I dig the way the autotune is deployed here, and it's just a real head-bobber for me
-apparently kikuta wrote the original in 15 minutes. prophecy is one of those tracks that I first really closely paid attention to as an ocremix, so every version of prophecy will always remind me of that remix (Dragon Song, by Harmony). I really love that ocremix (apparently kikuta does, too!) and the way it uses the prophecy melody in its guitar and piano lines-- today is just going to be 'music that reminds me of other music', I guess
-I always like staff roll more than I think I will. my favourite part is actually the ending, though-- something really beautiful about it
-so I talked about one track per match; why don't I just vote for them? well, I just really like the other tracks too

God, both matches 1 and 2 are way better than I'd thought they'd be. Lot of cool songs there, from the prog rock that is Face of the Deep, the cool remix from Secret of Mana, the neat vocals from Xeno X and the banger that's Terminal Velocity. Bit of a bummer that I don't feel as strongly for match 3, but I can still appreciate the mystical vibes that The Final Song tries to give me.

It's no Black Song, but Final Song is a great medley to musically encapsulate Drakengard 3 in the double-secret true ending. More to say in a future round/year. Genre: INTONER RITUAL

dang that's a matchup in match 1 alright. liking terminal velocity way more today than i usually do, but wir fliegen is too damn good and still isn't even the best song today cause GOD DAMN PROPHECY REMAKE when songs in som remake are better they're like god tier i swear (this, steel and snare, did you see the ocean). must admit though face of the deep reminds me a lot of ryo takeshita rock and that makes me like it way more than i should lol

Oh my god i am in such a sonic mood today; esp edgy 2000s sonic; that makes this match harder than it was before.(ok i know this game was like, the first game to not be edgy 2000s sonioc After that started, that is why it is called Sonic Colours(cute), but this song still has that mood for sure anyway)

Oh hey, another prog metal song..this one is more aesthetically traditionally prog metal, but compositionially much more wild. A tough call here. There are some parts of this that are like literally derek sherinian sounding and planet x (band) tier tho...i think i have to give it to this one

I like this song so so much more than i did when it was the older days. Though tuned percussion with delay echoes reverberating their metallic clanks into the abyss has /always/ been my thing

Ok so see my concept for the bracket track order was that the final song was just an illusion..you THOUGHT that would be the final song(because it was calledthe final song) and this would be the credits song after the final song. But actually instead of credits you just went into the distorted reality warped zone..and this is the FAKE CREDITS. And now youre traveling between 50 realities at the speed of a new reality every 5 seconds. But the big challenge. Thats up next. Good luck with these upcoming LONG SONGS and epic finale songs everyone (i have a seecret narrative i imagine for the whole bracket. . . i like making track orders for things lol) (it tells a STOREY)

I get that the Chibi Robo song is supposed to sound like flipping through TV channels, and there are some segments that I would have liked to listen to full length, but without there even being a main theme during the song, listening to it without actually watching the credits seems pretty pointless.

MATCH 1

Terminal Velocity (Act 1) is very cool! I really like all the bright, vibrant melodies here. Sonic Colors songs seem to have a lot of that in its music, which is really nice. "Terminal velocity" also describes the pacing of this song well because listening to this makes me feel like I'm running at Mach speed. Kind of like Sonic, I guess!

Wir fliegen is one of several top-tier Xenoblade X songs in my book. The vocals are great, and that thumping percussion from 1:00 onwards really helps drive this song. But the whole thing is great! Very strong match, but I have to go for Wir fliegen here.

MATCH 2

The 2018 remake of Secret of Mana had some hits and quite a few misses in its soundtrack, but the biggest hit of all with this remake was easily for me the remake of Prophecy. This song is such a great example of how much good instrumentation can carry a song to a top score in my eyes. The way the lead instrument in the flute is brought out in the remake versus the original SNES instrumentation is a huge difference for me. Not that I don't like the SNES version of this song because I do, but the live instrument sound is so much more preferable for me. But the flute isn't the only thing that makes this song so great to me; all the instruments like the drums and guitar that you don't hear any resemblance to in the original song create a lot of depth to this song that I very much enjoy. This is definitely my favorite song to come out of Secret of Mana, both the original and the remake! I'm very happy to finally see it in the contest this year.

I like the metal part more than the prog part when it comes to The Face of the Deep's prog metal style. It's easy to jam out to the drums, and the melody isn't bad or anything, but it's not really the kind of song I'd listen to. Like melodically, it's a bit outside of my tastes and I'm not totally feeling the saxophone in this song, though I definitely understand the appeal of it.

MATCH 3

I love all the heavy, guitar-driven boss songs in Drakengard 3, but The Final Song is a super good song from this game too! Emi Evans' vocals are once again on point, and the way it cycles through the different intoner themes with the instruments and tempo changes is all really cool to me!

Staff Roll is kind of meh. I don't really care for how it cycles through such different sounding parts that all feel like they should be their own standalone song. Some of them seem like they could be good if there was a "full version" of them, but others are less good.

Such a strong top 4 today! I'd be happy with any of them retiring.
