This is awesome though, so glad to see this on PC and already fearful of how many hours I'll inevitably pour into this once I pick it up.

For someone who has placed a decent amount of musou games, what makes this one so much better than all of the other ones?

I had a lot of fun with it but I don't think I would call it the best musou game.

It does have an absurd amount of playable characters though. It honestly felt like too many.

An actually Complete version of a Koei Tecmo game? At a reasonable price without hundreds of dollars of DLC? Never thought I'd see the day.

Wonder if they'll finally localise Musou Orochi Z now.

It's all about sheer content. There's an absolutely bananas roster size to use on a ton of fun maps and scenarios. The whole package in terms of breadth really has yet to be topped by anything outside of maybe Hyrule Warriors' Adventure mode, which is pretty different.

Its also got good difficulty because enemy musou attacks are not telegraphed and archers are as scary as they were in DW3.

If by "good difficulty" you mean "annoying as all hell", then yes.

I read Romance of the Three Kingdoms and honestly DW3/WO3 archers feel pretty accurate with how high the body count of notable figures is from arrows!

general question for musou fans.

Is there any Musou game with competent online co-op play? My friend and I were interested in playing a game in this genre together via online co-op (and have not had much luck using programs like Parsec for couch co-op without massive lag) since we've been playing One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 together.

From what I can piece together from googling, it seems like no game in this genre has even mildly competent online co-op with the possible exception of DW9 (which seems to have terrible reviews for other reasons).

Specifically what I'm looking for in terms of online co-op is (PC only):

-Able to play through the story mode together via online co-op.
-One player doesn't need to complete a level first on their own before both players can play it together
-Both players earn progression in their own game regardless of who joins who.

I haven't seen anything in my google searches that suggests any musou game does this better than One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 yet, which itself still has mind-boggling bad menu UI for online but is otherwise pretty good.

But it let's you both fully play through the campaign start to finish together. You just each pick from a small selection of characters at the start of each mission.
