The three-day cycle is fine without the danger of losing four hours of progress because of a power outage or a hardware failure. I quit one Majora replay solely because of that, mind you. It was in no way my fault. Keep in mind this was pre-3DS version. But this is why I voted OoT. Honestly, even just making it so owl statue saves are permanent would have been acceptable. Because that would make it so a failure to log progress would rest responsibility on the player. Easy enough to exit a dungeon to save, buy a red potion, and re-enter to fight the boss... unless time is running out, of course.
