I didn't hate the Bebop live action. It got a couple episodes and characters right (Spike/Jet, the Pierrot le Fou episode), but everything else was weird and off-putting. There's also all the lead up marketing and hype that could already entice people. I don't really mind when an anime gets a crappy live-action US adaption out of the blue. The anime is still there when it's all said and done, and you didn't want a live-action US version anyway. It's much more upsetting when books get a crappy live-action adaption, because you hoped the books would get a great adaption and now your hopes are dashed, maybe forever.
