Pretty much. The top Dems still think it's the 80s/90s and think Republicans can still be reasoned with, which is insane with everything going on. They still don't get that they're evil fascists who want people to suffer and die. They still just see them as fellow colleagues who only have differences of opinion on government. Their delusions, gullibility, and cowardice are harming this country along with Republicans.

Younger people are easy to paint as radical. Youth is equated to unseriousness, which is equated to unelectablility, which is equated to progressivism and being scary.

It doesn't help that younger people who run for office on the left are often significantly to the left of current Dems because they're running because they see that the system is utterly broken.

Then the young people the party does endorse are little offshoots of the corporate Dems already in office, ie the Buttigieg types. But young people regard them as inauthentic and unrepresentative.

It's gonna have to be a hostile takeover because older people with calcified thinking are not going to save us. There's a reason that the revolutionaries that established this country were all in their 20s and 30s.

it's actually kinda terrifying how few names there are out there for candidates after Biden. especially since AOC seems to have inherited the Republican's eternal campaign from Hillary. Newsom and Harris aren't exactly names i expect to galvanize a voter base.

Well, considering that the frontrunner for the next Dem nomination that Biden isn't running in will likely be Harris, Pritzker, or Newsom, at least that brings the Dem frontrunner down to the 50s.

Neoliberalism doesn't exactly excite or inspire anyone. To sell it, you need once in a generation political charisma like Bill and Obama had. It's pretty hard to be a young person and create a grassroots campaign around vouchers and tax credits. That's why neoliberals insist so heavily that it's the only way and that anything else is impossible or would be catastrophic.

There's no reason to support the young neoliberals over the old ones who can at least get elected and implement it, and the young socialists are treated as delinquent, redheaded step children to be shut in the cupboard by many Democrats.

That's why there's a bunch of AOCs and a bunch of Bidens, but nothing inbetween that bridges the gap. The Democratic party has been really bad at conveying its grassroots into power, it actively hates and fears them. Meanwhile, the grassroots have been running the Republicans since at least the 90s.

Never underestimate institutional backing. She'd very probably have DNC and black caucus backing in a primary campaign and clear the moderate wing of opposition. That'd lead to it being her versus one or multiple leftists, which doesn't lead to a leftist victory based on recent voting trends.

Eh, there's no way Harris would take down Biden. If his polling is so severely bad that he can be taken down in a primary, there's no way the challenge would come from within his administration.

If Biden runs, he's the frontrunner. If he doesn't, then my money would be on Harris being carried to the nomination or the Biden/Harris numbers being so bad that neither run and Pritzker or Newsom take it.

This is true across both parties.
