Because a lot of Westerners have little exposure to Asians, so even the ugly ones get propelled up as hot solely for being Asian. Like Simu Liu and Awkwafina in the Marvel movie, and how people here in Japan and China were wondering how their ugly asses got cast for the movie, some saying they're "Too ugly" to be on the big screen.

Also Japan's exotic to them, so there's that. Despite this country going to shit lately, but whatever: they'll criticize China for some of the same policies we're doing, but Japan gets a pass because they like our cartoons.

Fuck those people and their lolworthy low af standards.

I remember almost every Asian girl in our friend group saying that they're automatically suspicious when a guy shows interest because "They only like me 'cause I'm Asian.", and it made them prime targets to go on a date, get free food, and leave. Or ghost them if they got too creepy or were clearly fetishy in wanting to sleep with them :x

But yeah, a lot of them are just weird >_>

He is right about the Awkwafina part. The Chinese market is particularly brutal when it comes to physical appearances. I have watched and read many testimonies of Koreans who used to live in Latin America all their lives and then move to their country of origin...and fall in depression, burnout or severe anxiety just by trying to meet up social norms and the expected appearance. They have no ''body positivity'' movements like we do. Meaning, people don't hold back in calling you out on the slightest imperfection you might have.

I remember Asian guys in College (foreign students) not understanding why white guys were drooling over Lucy Liu or jerking off to Asa Akira, which they considered both to be ugly as sin.
