Do you ever take time to completely unplug from the internet OP? That helped me a lot while I was going through a pretty brutal break up a few months back while simultaneously kicking a hardcore alcohol addiction. Genuinely the worst thing for my mental health after my last breakup was going onto Instagram too much as my algorithm had turned into all this like, breakup advice stuff since I'd clicked on a few images on my feed, hoping it would help me initially.... But the advice was always targeted to a girl and always used the prounouns "he" and"him" in a negative light, such as "you don't owe him an explanation" or "you deserved better than him" and I felt more and more alienated and deserving of the pain I felt. I'd open up Instagram on auto pilot and immediately have my mood shifted into negativity. I really wish there was more gender neutral breakup advice on social media lol. Then they quickly lose their external facades of niceties. It might not be right, but I don't think something is wrong just because someone gets upset about it. Where is that line? Not sure. I guess it depends on my connection to the person, but I definitely think that some people ITT are going a bit overboard on the guilting stuff. Your feelings are valid, and no matter what they say, that'll always be the case. But if this is what's supposed to be normal when you unload on strangers, then mental health advocacy isn't quite as good as I thought. The person you confided in handled it completely the wrong way. It's not so much what she said, as how she said it. Either way, these people are mocking you for their benefit, not yours. I also sent the TC a message telling him to speak to someone who really understands (me) and won't leverage guilt in his face. As for fixing yourself, I have trust issues out the ass but I was able to find a boyfriend despite that. I think you can do it TC. Self-improvement seems to be a reasonable goal, but do it at your own pace, and not for other people. They can take you or leave you. Change on your own time and through your own experiences, not theirs. Leaving now.
