DragonBall to DragonBall Z Cell Saga. And maybe some Mystic Gohan for style. Mind you, I grew up watching it all as a kid. Cant think of anything more unnecessary than that Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are the same series. The distinction only existed for the anime. GT sort of counts but its only legacy is as fodder for fighting game rosters. Super is the legitimate successor to Dragon Ball but it's also brainless fanfiction-level trash and I hate it. As much as I hate Super I think Boruto is worse. It took me a while for the magic of new canon Dragon Ball content to wear off and see what a load of garbage Super is. I watched like 15 episodes of Boruto before the disgust took hold. I even read some of the manga to be totally sure and it was still unreadable/watchable crap. I have not felt even the slightest compunction to check in either. It also had the knock-on effect of making me question if Naruto was ever actually truly good and I think after the Chuunin exam the manga slowly got asymptotically worse until it just morphed into Boruto. Star Wars was crap but it was obviously going to happen. They're eventually going to make more of them too. Not just the endless TV shows and side story movies either. They'll make Episode 10, 11, 12 and then another and another until the property is box office poison. Korra...whatever. It revitalized Dragon Ball (especially after that god awful live action) and provided a booster shot of new content to the universe (where the games had been retreading the same events over and over and over and over). It expanded it in fun ways that introduced some fun characters (Universe 6 has some greats that I'd rank high in the whole series). I actually didn't know the series was that hated, I thought it was pretty fun... but even that aside, Super bolstered the series popularity and lead to exciting new entries like FighterZ and the Broly Movie. Star Wars is also sorta necessary by this metric... but Rise of Skywalker was so bad that it may have had an the opposite effect. I'm disappointed in Super, but we got what we asked for and I was reminded of GT. Star Wars though...it really didn't need to happen how it did. We have so much material for decades of varying quality and they scrap most of it. The SW sequel trilogy was garbage, but in principle its existence is justified because it was always planned to be a trilogy of trilogies -- even if those trilogies weren't planned. Never seen Korra, but it seems interesting. Super I had zero interest in when it was announced and most of what I saw of it only lowered that interest.
