Many gamers still don't have the the PS5/Xbox 4. A lot of people have immediate plans to get either. I remember everyone having a 360 or PS4 right after they came out but not so much now with the PS5/Xbox 4.

I just commented on this in the PS5 thread, I think this is the longest we've had a generation of consoles that weren't just available to walk in and pick up in a store. I think we are also seeing a slower transition in games, with a lot of games still being released on both the last and current gen platforms.

most games are still on ps4, I don't need a ps5 yet.

They shouldn't have bothered starting a new gen of consoles. Technology hasn't progressed enough to justify it. It just seems like a waste of resources right now. I hope Nintendo rides the Switch for at least another 3 years.

Compounded by the supply issues that have made it exceptionally difficult to get PS5's and created relatively little demand for PS5 exclusives, which in turn have been compounded further by a rise in coordinated scalping efforts that use bots to buy out stock far faster than any human ever could and left very few MSRP units available.

They are starting to get to the iPhone plateau. Why should I pay $1,000 for a iPhone 13 when all they've added recently is bells and whistles?

I'm sure I'll eventually end up with a PS5 assuming there's ultimately a good slate of games I'm interested in trying...but then again the industry has done a crappy job of making anything that looks interesting to me lately, so we'll see.

They should have made it more powerful.

I mean this little thing called covid that started a global pandemic could be a reason why current gen consoles are hard to snag. Crazy I know but I'm just throwing it out there.

I think you people are having a very selective memory. They were still coming out with PS2 versions of games in like 2010. The PS2 to PS3 transition was super slow.

Though that was helped by the fact that a PS2 version could be ported to the Wii (the best-selling console of that generation) with few alterations, or vice versa. The combined PS2 and Wii install base was large enough to make including them both in multiplat efforts pretty worthwhile.
