Since I've never raced on Waluigi Pinball, I was worried that it was going to wait until Wave 6 to be released, so I am pumped to be getting it so soon.
Trust me, that excitability will turn to dread once you get caught between the pinball and the usual mario kart item assault parade

Lol @ pretending a Mario Kart Tour course is new just because they're strategically releasing it in 8 before on Tour.
I might be wrong but weren't there anti gravity sections in the trailer? All the stages taken from older games have been more like carbon copies of the mobile have (to my knowledge) while this one has the potential to actually have been made for the Switch version, with Tour getting a watered down variant.

nobody ever liked waluigi pinball for the pinball design, the track barely takes place on the table itself and is just a simple winding road down the chutes
it's just a meme because of the music, waluigi, and the fact that this of all things is the hyperspecific track theme they tied to waluigi

If you play online, you can just wait and they will be released there for everyone to play. Granted it's random which courses appear, but you technically don't need to buy the DLC for it to play the tracks. Again, that's only if you are online. If you want to play them offline or in those grand prixes then yeah you gotta buy it or the upgraded NSO stuff. Only one price, and you get them all when they are available.

I did a bit of research and it seems like it's going live 3 PM in the UK, so 4 PM for us.

Thanks for the update. I was hoping to download them this morning so they'd be ready to go when I get home from work, but that's a minor setback.

Are they out? We may do a CE thing late tonight, we get a group going sometimes.

Go back to some of the Wave 1 tracks, they made some changes/improvements. The parked Shy Guys in Coconut Mall can actually spin out in a wide pattern to hit oncoming players.

I like the new batch overall.

New York Minute was okay. Will probably grow on me.

I didn't hate Mario Circuit 3 as much as I thought I would. The retro music was a nice touch (I figured they'd just recycle the standard MK theme from Peach's Castle), and while I always appreciated the original SNES MK as a concept / birth of the series, I never actually enjoyed playing it; so having pretty much a 1-to-1 SNES course in full 3D with modern gameplay is...actually kinda cool, and evokes a lot more nostalgia than I would've guessed.

Kalamari Desert was slated to be the biggest nostalgia trip so far in the Booster Pass. The first lap I was like 'ugh...this is it?' But the second lap twist totally redeemed this track.

Waluigi Pinball is a lot of fun. I'm sure I'll be in the extreme minority for suggesting this, but I wish the bumpers section encompassed more of the race.

Sydney Sprint's great. A lot of nice variety and the laps feel lengthy.

Snow Land was another track that I ended up liking a lot more than I thought I would.

Mushroom Gorge is pretty great.

Sky-High Sundae's probably the standout course, unsurprisingly.

And for the record, I've been patient thus far with the Booster Pass choices: SNES has gotten love, MK64, Wii, the handhelds, etc...but if we go another Wave without Double Dash getting some fucking love, I'm going to throw a fit.

This release of wave 2 seemingly confirms the leak from a while ago from data miners. There will be some GCN tracks coming up. Let me see if I can get the list and tag them as spoilers

10 Tour
6 Unknown, potentially new courses
4 Wii
4 GCN
2 3DS
3 GBA
2 DS
1 SNES

I also agree that the Tour tracks are basically new to most people as I'm sure no one here plays Tour. And considering the new course in this wave hasn't been in Tour at all means it was designed for 8 first and will be ported to Tour later. Just like all the other retro courses were designed in other games before being ported over.

I've only played New York Minute of the new courses. It was extremely boring in a way I didn't feel Paris Promenade or Tokyo... Drift? were.

That's good to hear, I would be happy with those figures if they turn out to be true.

Still crossing my fingers that Daisy Cruiser makes it in; imo that's the one course left from Double Dash (apart from maybe Dino Dino Jungle) that doesn't have a similar theme to existing MK8 courses (arenas / stadiums, roads with traffic, etc). DK Mountain's a long shot since it was already wasted as a throwback on Wii, but I'd be giddy to have that one return as well.

Only other track on my wishlist is Maple Treeway, which was supposedly leaked as well. Would love to see them put a ribbon on my N64 nostalgia with DK's Jungle Parkway or Koopa Troopa Beach, but those are long-shots.
