i was impressed by the character development in the end of this season. Butcher and Mothers Milk became really three dimensional characters with moral struggles and conflicts, and MM is even taking lexapro. butcher is not really an asshole, he has reasons for the way he acts. These are no longer two dimensional characters.

I am pisar we didnt get a soldier boy + butcher vs homelander final fight where they go all out, I was really hoping for an uninterrupted rematch, and the way the fight didnt happen because soldier boy went full psycho and Ryan is a dumbass and Maeve wasnt being too bright really annoyed me.

BTW Maeve shouldnt be able to give homelander any trouble, but she did. Bad writing.

now that butcher cant take any more temp V and only has 6 months to live, what happens with the next season?

also, I like how the story became democrats (start light) vs MAGA (homelander, stormchasers) and the latter went unhinged and violent, just like IRL.

Also its quite funny how soldier boy would get so pissed if anyone dared mention his PTSD

he takes permanent V and the entire plot point of him having only months to live is immediately dropped

the writing in this show is not good, the actors are just doing a great job

The soldier boy + butcher v homelander fight in herogasm was incredible. I didn't want it to end. I too was expecting a similar rematch in the finale. Unrelated but how the fuck did MM survive that blast from soldier boy? He got blasted right in the house, no fucking way he survives that unless he's like a supe but doesn't know it or some shit. Watch that scene again. He was right fuckin in the core of the blast.

What I don't get - in the finale, Butcher said "not the kid" when soldier boy was charging his power removal blast at the two of them. So Butcher lasered him away to interrupt him.

After he lasered him away, they started to fight, instead of butcher just saying again "not the kid." There was definitely an opportunity or two during the fight where soldier boy could've blasted HL again.

i think the twist to Butcher having 6 months to live is either his body adapts and overcomes or another version of temp V is made with no side effects.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I've seen people say this and I don't really agree with it.

While Homelander was always the biggest threat, he didn't really become an immediate threat until around this season. Going into Season 3, it was assumed that they could keep Homelander at bay by blackmailing him and leveraging his public image against him. Then this season happens, Homelander realizes he doesn't have to give a fuck anymore and starts openly executing people.

I'd even argue that he's not the "primary antagonist" in the first two seasons. S1 was Madelyn Stillwell and S2 was Stormfront. Homelander is always the Big Bad, but the conflicts of those two seasons revolved much more around "defeating" those two (Exposing Vought's experimentation and bringing down Stillwell; exposing Stormfront's identity as the nazi "hero" Lady Liberty)

Season 3 is actually the first time they found (and needed) an actual concrete way of beating Homelander and not just blackmailing him into behaving

i can see that happening, since they had storm front survive and then she killed herself a couple episodes in.

yeah home lander is odd, he is the most powerful by far but he is very weak mentally, despite being a sociopath (or psychopath?). You can tell when he sees soldier boy in the last episode where he is crying and acting like a child and soldier boy is much more collected and cool even though he has less powers.

but now that homeland went full MAGA and even blasted the human and the storm chasers celebrated it, he will become another storm from in the next season. Scary.
