I work from home and asides from the gym, and school once that starts up, I dont really have a lot of ways to meet girls/potential relationship partners organically, which is obviously what I would prefer. Just got a question about Hinge, if anyone is familiar.

Unlike tinder and bumble (I think?), Hinge allows you to initiate a convo with someone even if they havent liked your profile yet and you two havent matched. If I dislike a profile, would they still eventually see mine? And would they be able to initiate a convo even though I had already disliked? The reason I asked is because I came across a girl who is the ex of a tangential friend of mine. I havent ever met the girl, because I dont really know the guy super well himself, but hes chill and our friend groups have a whole lot of overlap.

I only know of her cuz of her ex bf, she doesnt know who I am. If she initiates the convo, Id preface by saying I know her ex, and asking if shes cool with that. I dont want to initiate the convo cuz the first thing Id say (after liking her profile and starting up a convo) would be telling her that I know her ex lol. Thats just really weird haha. So if I were to dislike her profile on Hinge, would any chance of a convo get shut down or would she still be able to contact me? Thanks.

I realize I made quite the wall of text, so Ill rephrase:

Since Hinge doesnt need both people to mutually like each other in order for a convo to start, if I were to dislike/ swipe left on a profile, would they still be able to message me?

It's your first day. You're overthinking it. Take a breath and relax. Just like girls you think are attractive

I don't know for sure if someone can like you after you swipe no, but I'm assuming they won't see you once you swipe no.

And the way it works is, you have to specifically like one of the prompts they answered, or one of their pictures (as opposed to just liking their profile as a whole). And when you do, you have the option to leave a comment with your like.

They still have to match with you before a conversation starts in earnest. Until they like you back, you can't send them anything else. You can't see profiles you liked, and you can't see if they've seen and/or rejected your like.

Bruh its so surreal seeing people I know on here lol. Swiped left on all of them so far but if its someone I know who Im also interested in, Ill swipe right

You dont actually initiate a conversation. You can leave a like with a message but they would still have to match with you to respond

Also, if you swipe left on someone they will come back around eventually.

On hinge, the profiles that pop up on your Standouts page, can only give roses, right? Not a regular like? Roses are like SuperLikes correct

Yeah, they are more popular users. I think its profiles that get a lot of attention. So its a bunch of hot chicks lol. They want you to pay to talk to the popular people but you do get a free rose a week i think
