So we have this expensive nightstand with 3 drawers. The problem is the drawers don't roll with wheels on metal strips like normal drawers. It's wood on wood. Each drawer has 2 strips on wood on the lateral sides and on the sides of the drawer are cut out slits that fit that wood strip.

How can I make the drawers open and close smoothly?

My boogie/snooty sister in law bought it and her self proclaimed handiman husband couldn't fix it. My other sister in laws husband couldn't fix it. And my father in law who actually is a handiman couldn't fix it. So they put it in my mother in laws house and now we got it.

So now you guys get why I'm on a mission to fix it.

Sand the parts where the wood touches

Soap or wax

Put in proper drawer slides. You can attach them to the sides or bottom depending on construction.

Other than that, get walnut oil or beeswax or some other wood on wood lubricant.

load them properly. otherwise, short of a rebuild with sliders, nothing. make sure the wood isn't chipped or gouged.

TC, use Bar Soap on the wood that slides.

I think adding sliders is the best idea

there is a reason everyone in the world is telling you dont add sliders to it

use skateboard wax or graphite powder
