My thoughts: I always like seeing lists like this despite the never-ending conflict between the people who like putting genre labels on bands and the people who say fuck off with genre labels. I think they fucked up the metalcore lists the most, with the biggest WTF being The Dillinger Escape Plan. Surprised to see no Gothenburg bands. But fuck yeah, Between the Buried and Me definitely deserves that spot on the prog metal big 4

Job hasn't been deathcore since Doom. Nice to see some TBDM love RIP Trevor Strnad

How is Twisted Sister in the big 4 of hair metal? Motley Crue and Poison are locks and I'm okay with Def Leppard, but I'd put like Ratt, Cinderalla, Bon Jovi or someone last.

I avoid the Loud Lists but the dude coming together as an interviewer that isn't over 50% cringe has been watchable.

Suicide Silence definitely deserves its spot, Mitch Lucker was a hell of a vocalist

some are ok, some are really weird, some are excellent examples of how some of those are barely genres. "goth metal" encompassing type o negative, cradle of filth and HIM all at once is a pretty good example of how flimsy trying to use that as a genre identifier is

Dimmu Borgir not being in Symphonic Metal is fucked up. I have all the love in the world for The Black Dahlia Murder, but them being in Death Metal as opposed to Carcass, At the Gates, Dying Fetus, or Suffocation is fucked up. No mention of Pantera anywhere is fucked up.

I'm sure the big 4 of grunge required a lot of thought on their part.

Really there's only two subgenres at least in rock and metal that have an organic big four, grunge rock and thrash metal, the other ones are cobbled together.

The Emo list might upset some people, but they are probably used that sort of thing.
