I have 3 ways to play from my phone.

Option A) Bluetooth. This is great because I can control the next song from my steering wheel, but I need to use my phone to change songs(unless next/random is what I want), unless I haven't discovered another way. The audio quality is not the best, either. Granted for a car it's fine, but I know it could be better.

Option B) USB. This one is problematic because, the car defaults to reading the SD card in my phone through it's own proprietary way, so I cannot use the program on my phone as mediator as with bluetooth. So this means 1) shuffle is really fucked up and b) It cannot play FLAC so, there goes 75% of my library.

Option C) AUX cord. This is the best sound quality wise but I would need to control everything via my phone, which is distracting because I haven't invested in a phone holder, but even so switching sings via steering wheel is best.

So, what the fuck do I do? I guess I have to use bluetooth. AUX is too risky because changing songs is distracting, USB is out because it cannot interpret my flac files.

Hmmm......

what car? newer ones have Android Auto and the iPhone equivalent, and it basically lets you use your phone through your car, including GPS and music and other things (via voice commands). can send and receive texts through voice as well.

Yo I just got a new car too congrats

You may want to look into an after market radio. You can get a decent one for $100-200 that would be better suited to being paired with your phone

supposed to be that Jettas from 2016 onward have it. it did take a bunch of back and forth between car and phone to get it setup. (I literally did this a few days ago myself since I just finally got a new phone.)

steps were something like

make sure Android Auto is enabled in car UI settings
connect with USB
authorize the car on the phone and/or run the android auto app
back and forth between car and phone authorizing features
