why is it just an endless torrential flood of spam? My real question is what does a person get out of spamming some random message that no one will read because chat is moving way too fast? Is it like a mosh pit or something? Letting whatever emotion you have express itself through random gibberish that goes largely unnoticed?

For bigger and active chats, people like seeing other people be hype. Smaller chats can actually be used for discussion

It's fine on smaller streams.

I'm with you in absolutely not understanding the appeal of massive streams where it's just constant emotes and copypasta.

yeah i guess that makes sense depending on what's going on stream. Like this evo tourney. I can see people wanting to spam in all caps on hype moments.

But it seems people go crazy regardless. I used to watch kripp streams back in 2014, and it was impossible to read anything. Wasn't like he was playing a hype game. Just a slow card game

not gonna lie, I do find it entertaining when everyone decides to just copy and paste the same thing. Reminds me of when people would do it on here, and someone would come in with a combo breaker

My streams are still small enough that I can keep up conversations with people in chat.

Honestly interacting with the chatters is a lot of fun.

people like TC have baffled me since over a decade ago with this exact complaint. do they also complain that you can't make out what anyone in the crowd is saying when watching NFL or NBA games?

the whole point is that it's just a gigantic crowd-wide ongoing reaction to what's happening on stream

I mean it's only really like that for large streamers. You can have actual interaction with smaller ones.

As for the big ones... it's just meme spamming and usually shitting on the streamer.

ever been to a concert & screamed out loud hoping that dave would notice you but then you get escorted out by security because apparently this is not a nude allowed thing? that's the twitch chat experience.
This but instead of screaming you've been conditioned to know which little picture to spam when you hear certain stimulants. These pictures are vague and on the whole up to the interpretation of the streamer (Who probably won't even look at them)
Also unlike screaming where your noise comes together, you are swept off the page in a second by other peoples' picture spam.

Twitch is for bots in training.

Don't know, don't use it. All I've heard is a bunch of drama happens on it.

I like smaller communities during videos cause the smaller communities are actually helpful and make corrections that were oversights on youtubers/twitchstreamers end.

It's frustrating when they don't read it and keep ranting about something you now know isn't a real thing tho >_>

The bigger chats look like cults.
