And somehow, they also managed to make the other previously bad films look better.

Say what you will about Origins Wolverine (and The Last Stand to a lesser extent), but this dumb, goofy piece of crap film is actually pretty fun and entertaining after sitting through that Apocalypse/Dark Phoenix bullshit.

The Fox X-Men movies are pretty mid in general nowadays. You can thank one man in particular for damn near singlehandedly killing this franchise.

I've always liked origins. Wolverine had some cool moments as well.

But apocalypse just... Wasn't fun and it should have been, and dark Phoenix was just bad.

Days of future past is probably my favorite but I enjoy time travel shenanigans.

Apocalypse was straight garbo. I saw that shit in theaters for free and I still felt cheated.

Origins didn't take itself very seriously, and honestly, I'd prefer that approach (but executed better) over the other movies where they take themselves a little too seriously.
DoFP is still probably my favorite too, but even I don't think as fondly about that one as I use to.

The only positive things about Origins was Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth and Wade Wilson(at the beginning only).

Logan was a solid film. There are aspects about it I certainly didn't like, and I flat out thought the last act just wasn't very good.

But overall, it's definitely of the upper echelon of X-Men movies... which isn't a very high bar.

I'm in the camp that likes a lot of Dark Phoenix and dislikes Apocalypse outside of a few scenes. Dark Phoenix is pretty anticlimatic and the villain sucks but it has a lot of great interactions in it that make it feel lowkey and kind of like X1/X2.

Still, DoFP and Logan are perfect endings. I'd still recommend X3 since it's entertaining but despite kind of liking Dark Phoenix it's not essential at all, it just felt refreshing to have something that felt low stakes after Apocalypse was a nightmare of a movie rofl

Logan = DoFP = X2 > X1 > First Class > X3 would be my rating for the series with consideration that the rest add absolutely nothing. The Wolverine is fine but it feels like an unnecessary prologue, and Origins Wolverine is far and away the worst of any of them, but it's unintentionally funny

First class is a horrible too. A guy with power of not drying, get killed after Nazi called him slave and them they just forget about him seconds later.

Also really everything is about Mystique..what the hell.

I can't even go back and watch the first two. They just aged so poorly imo, and I use to quite like them. The Last Stand is so dumb, it's actually more enjoyable to watch.
I really liked First Class once upon a time, but now I don't even know anymore. I've (mostly) turned on that movie nowadays lol.

I guess what I'm getting at is I'd like my X-Men movies with a bit more color, silliness, and didn't take themselves very seriously, considering the source material.

Imo, the first half of First Class Era movies are good for one watch. Then they become meh after that. After Mystique became MC it just went downhill.

They somehow figured out a way to kill the unkillable Black guy. I was never a fan of how they treated Darwin in that movie.

Also really everything is about Mystique..what the hell.
Charles, Erik, and Logan too. It's also part of why the movie lost much of their luster for me overtime.
Something I enjoy about the X-Men is that outside of the serious stuff, they were sort of this oddball kind of family unit spanning across multiple cliques of characters. I think they tried here and there, but ultimately, I don't really get that with the movies. The movies always primarily centered around Charles, Erik, Raven, and/or Logan, and everyone else is just along for the ride. Some characters you would think deserved more importance would be reduced to just nameless background characters. Most people don't even know Psylocke is in X3.

And I don't want to be one of those nerds, but some of the obvious stuff from the the source material that they just seem to casually ignore speaks volumes on how much the creative forces behind these movies actually know about X-Men stuff.
