ignoring the best option of they dont need one assuming they have to have one come up with a better one than the garbage prequel films gave them

me i say they should be the oldest race in the universe and evolved on a planet that should be impossible for life to be on and the planet just SLIGHTLY defies physics

this would fit the hole ultimate apex predator thing they got a head start in evolution and evolved on a planet no other life could

I never watched the prequels, but I wouldn't mind if they were genetically created to be apex predators used for clearing out hostile planets/areas and just got out of control

As messy and pointless as prometheus was I like the origin they set up. The original design was clearly created rather than evolved so them being bio weapons from a culture obsessed with forced evolution was a cool idea. Them just being the best aliens around isn't very exciting.

The Xenomorph was discovered aboard a derelict alien vessel on an LV planet, by a mining crew who were investigating a distress call sent from the craft. It emerged by way of a bioluminescent egg that dripped slimey dewdrops against the flow of gravity, and infected one of crew. The derelict ship was possibly piloted by a giant affectionately named "Space Jockey". There is visual evidence to suggest that the eggs may have been some type of cargo, and that the Space Jockey became infected. There is evidence in its behavior to suggest that it absorbed the memories of the crewman it gestated inside before emerging in the Nostromo.

None.

That's a large part of what makes the first film great.

This. Theyre just alien animals. Why do animals need an origin?

I think at the end of the day the xenomorph is meant to look man-made in an ironic way, like from somewhere far in our past or far into the future, but also not at the same time, and when you look back it gets confusing in terms of where evolved/first encountered humanoids or to what extent it was genetically engineered vs natural evolution (like the trilobite suggests in Prometheus)

I still think Covenant took it in the right direction
