I swear its a miracle both me and my brother managed to beat that crap back in the day.

Like, the hardest section of the game was just making it through the technodrome with those shitty boxes whereas shredder himself was easy as hell, lol. That and holding unto donatello for as long as possible to melt the bosses.

Also this video is pretty interesting. I knew the hitboxes for the dam level was off, but not that damn off lol.

You know, I'm a goddamn combat veteran, yet my biggest source of PTSD is hearing that fucking noise from the electric seaweed bullshit.

The dam level isn't really that hard at all, once you figure it out. It's just tedious.
The bullshit is having to do it again, after you have a terrible run in level 4 and run out of continues.

yes as per my post it is supposed to give you 2 more credits, but the game over screen doesnt show a number for how many credits you have remaining. ive killed like 30 turtles just seeing if i did the code right (i did not) so any help on how to perform it correctly is greatly appriciated.

It is supposed to raise your continues from 2 to 4.

The secret to complete the corridor is to either spam scrolls or walk slowly.
If you look at the video I posted earlier, many jetpack stone soldiers will turn around and fly out of screen after being spawn if you stand still.

i will definitely take that into account when i get the game started. been trying to play for 55 minutes now.

could you offer insight into how to properly do the konami code for this game and how to tell if one does it correctly?

I got pretty good at clearing the water level, but yeah it took a lot of trial and error. Never did beat that game though...

the code is definitely wrong and the wrong version has been copy pasted everywhere including the wiki. this is dangerous shit. i remembered this from YEARS ago, will submit the correct version to GFAQs soon.

I didn't have issue with that level after a few tries. Had it down cold eventually. Level 5, now that pisses me off.

submitted a report that the code is fake. if anyone can get the code to work tonight (or whenever) ill pull my submission.

also, i feel like this might be one of the games that uses a code CLOSE to the konami code, but not actually the code itself.

I barely managed to beat this game as a kid in 1990. Spamming tons of shit in that technodrome hallway with a single turtle left is something I'll never forget.

I read a lot of the code magazines in the day for games I had, and I don't remember that game ever coming up.

I also remember never using the Konami code in TMNT

This game is awesome. If it's shitty, so was a lot of stuff. We didn't beat all the games we owned, so I was fine playing until level 3. Everyone was impressed if u beat the damn.

It really was okay not to beat a game.

But not anymore, which is why I have to beat it.

Great (but flawed) game. I saw that video last week and it was fascinating that the author provides game genie codes to alter the swimming mechanics to make it easier.

He even has several codes that, when combined, changes the hitbboxes of the turtles to make the seaweed section more manageable.

I mean, if you know where the bombs are it's not hard anyway. This game rapidly scales up in challenge *after* the dam, like everyone's saying.

Not really anyone beat the electric seaweed level back when it originally came out. Only later as adults. But now with YouTube and walkthroughs you can easily follow the path to take in the game, pausing it during the steps. So it should be much more simple

I wonder if the port on Commodore 64 was much better than the NES one, because I never had that much of an issue while playing it.

Just make sure you have Raphael stockpiled with scrolls, and only bring him out for a boss or challenging section like in the technodrome.
