I am a theist, and I hate how some groups take some of the old testament stories as fact. Some groups preach only x number are being saved.

The stereotypical internet tough guy atheist. I don't like theists anymore than you do, and I get it, you don't believe in theism but you don't have to be a holier than thou dick about it.

I was going to say there are some real asshole atheists online. That would have been my atheist point.

I dont like the assholes who use Christianity as an excuse for their hate. Like the ones who hold anti-gay signs in front of their church. They say shit like God hates f**s because theyre too afraid of just saying Im homophobic.

Jesus was a cool dude though. So on topic, thing I hate most is how legalistic Christians are when Jesus'a teachings were pretty consistently about elevating love for other people above legalistic interpretations of the law

I'm agnostic but I find Pastafarianism hilarious. I don't see how people can take it seriously, especially with diagrams like 'Global Average Temperature' vs. 'Number of Pirates'.

Im an animist and give reverence to the spiritual identity of all things. I dislike that other people use their opportunity at consciousness giving form to things they cannot understand and use these imagined forms to oppress others. I think this is a habit that is not exclusive to theists, but that theists have firmer structures in place to reinforce their oppressive beliefs with action.

Fucking exactly. It absolutely kills me that this is a common talking point. Their entire thing is that the rest of us are going to burn for eternity but I'm the asshole for pointing out how dumb their book is.

Atheists who fit the edgelord stereotypes. There's nothing wrong about sharing your opinion in a level headed way, but you don't have to be a dick about it. With that said, I do empathize with them. I did grow up in an religious community that made us pray the atheism away. Plus a lot of religious people tend to be hypocrites that don't practice what they preach. I'm definitely more on us trying to take the high road when they hit low.

As a Christian, there are a whole lot of things I don't like that people justify to themselves and others in the name of religion.

Basically, list every reason people dislike the Republican party and shave off any variation of, "They have imaginary friends."

I don't like how atheists are so bad at converting people to our belief system. Religion definitely has the advantage there.

I used to do it all the time and understand where it's coming from but I am not a fan of atheists ignoring or dismissing what faith means to someone in terms of finding strength to get through all the awful things this world can throw at us.

I think theres a bit more to it than that. Pastafarianism, to my understanding, arose to hold a mirror to Christian theocracy in the US and beyond. Like, You wanna start teaching creationism in public schools? Sounds fun, count us in too!

Anyway, in response to the topic prompt, theres a lot of racism in the atheist community.

I hate how a whole bunch of atheists jumped on the anti-sjw bandwagon a few years back. I didn't pay attention to any of them, but it's pretty revealing how their motives for being atheists were ultimately selfish and narrow-minded and not, you know, based on actual principles, observations or intuitions.

Atheist, I used to hate the cringe preachy online atheists but the older I get the more realise at least they're not literally delusional like religious people (at least Christians)

I will fully admit this that a lot of the atheist YouTubers who made a living making fun of Christians like The Amazing Atheist and Sargon of Akkad definitely jumped shipped and basically became exclusively Anti-SJW channels because of the big market change. It's just like how you mentioned it, it wasn't about principle it was about making money for these guys.

Yes but there are also polytheists and monotheists, for atheists the distinction can be left at agnostics about abstract objects

In theory, anyway. The justice system is disproportionately skewed toward executing Black convicts and that's not okay by me.

Make no mistake about it though: a life sentence and a death sentence are the same thing. If you engineer the way that a person dies, you've as much as killed them. Locking a person in a cell for decades is like holding a person's head under water for decades and claiming natural causes when they finally drown.

If you truly want to wash your hands of a prisoner's death, you should release them to die in peace in a hospital or a family home when their time draws near.

Not just money, but fueling their own egos and, in the case of Sargon, a failed attempt to grab a bit of power. I'm willing to bet that if you look over these guys' older work, you could find little bits of evidence of their real nature.

Atheists who argue unequivocally that there is no God. While I share the lack of belief in God, I acknowledge that it is impossible for anyone to "prove" or know for sure that there is no God; it is unfalsifiable. And while there is merit to the argument that the onus of proof lies on those making the claim for God's existence, that nevertheless has no bearing on the philosophical absurdity of essentially saying "I know there is no God."

I don't like that many atheists are so vehemently against religion as a whole.

They see violence done in the name of religion and just full stop there. They don't realize that most "religious" violence is really political before it's even remotely religious.

Sure, plenty of bad comes from it, but for the vast majority of people religion means community and a sense of belonging.

Atheists believe that they're enlightened just because they don't believe in something, and a lot of them have replaced science as their religion. There are people who genuinely believe that you can't question science.
