Remember a month or two ago when people were making fun of android for opening up the possibility of this happening, saying they're "GLAD I'M AN IPHONE USER LOL SUCK IT ANDROID USERS".

Android/Google wasn't even doing it. The OS is open source and a Chinese third party came up with a PR that could be incorporated into OEM phones that did this.

People just twisted the headline way past what was actually happening.

I can't say i've used newish gen samsung phone for a long enough time to say anything about OneUI, but touchwiz was one of the reasons why I bought a nexus 5 over buying and root/flashing an S5

Also wrong. Google provides native APIs to add ads to any app you develop. They do not use those APIs anywhere in the OS. That's exclusively a third party OEM thing.

There are models of Android that are basically Stock+ a little extra.

Asus ROG Phone 5, for example, runs stock, however it has an OS modification to permit direct button-screen mapping as well as a game genie overlay, but if you're not playing a video game it's exactly the same as stock. And if you are playing a video game then you probably bought it specifically for those additional non standard features.

Sure, but that's extra shit they add on. I avoid all that altogether by buying my phones directly from google and use google fi as my service provider.

So here's the deal with that.

I used to be a big advocate for "you NEED a flagship processor, 4k oled screen with insane contract ratio, a metric shit ton of ram, ect...

Then I went from a Pixel 3xl which had all those things to a Pixel 5 which did not, and you know what? I noticed absolutely no difference or downgrade in the day to day operation aside from better battery life. I don't game on my phone, so midrange processors are absolutely not needed, or even noticed in productivity apps or shit like watching youtube.

Oh and for some dumbass f***ing reason Samsung put the back button on the lower right corner.

Which accounts for the experience of less than 0.01% of android users and didn't exist day 1. Just about all android users experience baked in ads.

Apple already shows ads in some apps, such as Apple News and Stocks. It also recently announced plans to expand ads in the App Store. Bloomberg said the company is considering ways to add advertising to Apple Maps, for example, which so far has stood out from its competitor, Google Maps, by not showing ads. The report said it's "likely" that Apple also will insert ads into the stores for Podcasts and Books, too.

My god this is bad. As I'm typing this, the back button is on the lower left corner on the bottom. With Samsung, you can actually switch it to whatever side you like (and MANY more customizations that stock Android later adopts into the core OS).

My dude, you only fuck with ROG trash. You wouldn't even know and have zero experience to be speaking on it. I have the Pixel 6 and S21/S22 and One UI shits all over the Pixel. I feel naked and exposed when I pick up the Pixel phones.

It doesn't matter what they use. They have native ads. Whether it's from a third party or directly advertising Google stuff is irrelevant.
