That is surprising to me. I guess the lukewarm word of mouth on Thor hurt its endurance at the box office. Meanwhile, MoM had a lot of scenes that were "must-see," even though some people didn't love the story. A fair number of reviewers thought it didn't use the Multiverse concept as well as it could have.

Doctor Strange's popularity seems to be on the upswing, while Thor's movie-to-movie performance is now on the decline.

If you've seen both, which did you like better?

Multiverse by far. Made the Disney Plus show significant and the only one to do so thus far I think. Plus Thor didn't need a 4th movie at all, would've been better had it actually legit been Jane's story instead of an expansion of Thor's. Have him show up as a guest sure but there was no need to make the movie about him instead of Jane.

Thor was too fucking heavy

Multiverse is the better film but it was still pretty bad. Phase 4 has generally been quite poor.

There were bad marvel films before, to be fair, but the sense that they were collectively going somewhere made it seem worth weathering the bad ones. Now, the MCU just seems to be meandering from bad film to bad film.

Of course, Im sure some will disagree. Good for them if theyre enjoying it, I guess.

Thor was fantastic. MoM was a character assassination of Wanda.

That's how I felt about it. For me, the constant humor ruined any tension that Gorr would have hoped to provide.

Havent seen Thor but MoM was sooo boring

It's been long enough that Thor is pretty much done making big money. There's not a chance in hell of it closing the $200 million gap.

Thor 4 was a genuinely awful movie

MoM was bad in terms of plot but it was at least entertaining

Thor 4 was probably better overall though but it was a little underwhelming

Dr. Strange MoM did very well in the box office was because of the hype created from the trailers, but mostly the Cameos and some untrue rumors (like Tom Cruise appearing as Iron Man). Thor didn't have anything else to hype about other than a "female thor" that she ended up not sticking around long enough for. Don't get me wrong, it was a decent love story but that was literally all it had. Taika decided to crank up the "humor" ten fold and it ended up falling on its own head because of it. The villain was well played, but otherwise another fodder MCU Villain to add to a long list of them.

Both were underwhelming, but I enjoyed Thor 4 more for sure.

The success of 4 may well have helped out 5, but 5 was also a great game. A better example would be how well 6 sold, because that one was awful.

I liked Multiverse of Madness better, that movie is trippy asf

I was pleasantly surprised with MoM.

MoM has 99 problems but not being entertaining wasnt one.

Neither were very good, but MoM is the better of the two.

I left Thor 4 feeling like I genuinely wasted my money.
