How high is your highest limit credit card?

Feel free to elaborate on why if you want to.

Im just asking about the highest limit single card - not a combination of all your cards.

If you dont have a credit card, then dont vote, but feel free to explain why not in this topic if you want to.

$13,100

I could probably request a limit increase and get it, but I don't need it.

25k. There was maybe a 5 year stretch where I applied to have it increased every year. Haven't done that in a while though. Imagine how much higher it could be!

I haven't bothered to check currently, but I don't think one really needs anything higher than 25k due to the weird inconsistency of what businesses accept (because they don't want to pay the credit card fees). I found that the really high dollar purchases have generally been with checks. I spent 80k in one year on misc. purchases which all have been with checks.

Home improvements through contractors which can cost 100k or more, you'll be writing checks. Cars, motorcycles, they all only accept cash/check or in-house financing. But then hotels and airlines have no problem with credit cards even when it totals over 10k. Appliances oddly enough, I was able to purchase 2 appliances totaling 20k with my credit card. And then there are businesses that give you 2 prices. One price for credit card. One price for cash/check which will be less than the credit price. These can vary from orthodontists to firearms to even restaurants.

To date, I don't think I've ever come across any reason to have 50k in credit card limit.

My bank automatically signed me up for $30k.

I quickly reduced that to $3k. I stay on top of it and pay it off quickly so

The biggest reason I can think of is it lowers your credit utilization ratio, which is a factor in determining your credit score. Depending on how much you put onto credit cards on a monthly basis it may not matter though.

what is this 80s-ass place you live where you are writing people physical checks for... anything?

OT: 8k. Increased it from 4k so it could cover an overseas trip a couple years ago. It usually has about $1000-1500 on it a month.

Higher credit limit also means higher trust in you to handle credit, to get even more credit. Or something.

why?

As long as you arent irresponsible with it, having a higher credit limit is only ever a good thing. Lowers your utilization rate and increases your credit score

Working for a car dealership, checks are way more common than wire transfers and the like for large down payments/outright purchases.

I have 1 8500, and 3 over 10000.

I never use more than 1000 before I pay them off honestly. Unless I do a trip but I still pay it off immediately.

Visa is 14k.
My Amex card used to be higher, but they lowered it after I went a couple of years without using it. After that I set it as my default payment card for Amazon so it would at least get some use.
