Nearly every single major sports title is a lazy cashgrab

FIFA is the only one I enjoy and its get better and better each year but I read somewhere they lost their agreement with EA. I stopped playing Madden and 2k years ago.

Gacha games have to at least be in competition

Out of the mainstream games they definitely are. Id say gatcha and simulator games are up there too, but not on the same level as NBA, NFL, FIFA, WWE, and NHL games are every year.

like, yea, you have one (or a few, if you're lucky) standout titles each year, but there are tons more that also come out, and they add nothing to the genre.

Predatory mobile games, if that counts as a genre.

Yeah but at least there's at least one great JRPG that comes out every so often.

When's the last sports game to come out that wasn't aggressively mediocre?

idk about traditional sports games, but probably stuff like Rocket League, THPS 1&2 Remake, and stuff like that on the fringe of sports.

True. I used to get Madden religiously every year. But now it's just like the same game each time. I wish 2K could make another football game, but EA put a stop to that.

VNs are barely games, so i dunno.

They're generally the "I listen to everything except rap and country" for games

It's 60 dollars for an updated squadfile that you can easily get from modding forums. The great lads on there even update the stats to the same as the most recent games.

Then you can download a mod to get all the new shirts.

Madden kinda tried something different with the Face of the Franchise mode, but man it's annoying as hell.
I just want to create a player, do 12 seasons with him, and work towards a hall of fame career.
I don't need all the story mode garbage. Give me the Dorm room thing from NCAA, that was cool and simple.

It is only that way because it is the only genre where they is no competition. One company makes the game every year for the specific sport. And they have no reason to improve much.

MLB the show consistently rules and I'm not even a baseball guy. The NHL games are fun. Fifa as previously mentioned also, but yeah most of the games like Madden and even NBA 2k fell off a cliff recently suck but people buy them anyway so there's no incentive to change anything.

FIFA or now EA FC is a gacha.

I always liked the Fight Night games for boxing

NBA 2K had some pretty good releases since 2K11 but recently the newer games are either hit or miss

Fight night champion was awesome. I'll break out my 360 every once in a while just to do a new career.

At least they're actual games. Most visual novels can't make the same claim.

Yeah I went from buying yearly releases to getting them every two years and now I haven't bought one in like 4 years
