Having previously entered distribution deals with Netflix for reality, drama and entertainment series, Japans Nippon TV is expanding its relationship with the streamer, licensing 13 of its most popular anime titles to the platform in a non-exclusive pact.

Some series will go wider than others, notably Hunter X Hunter whose first 38 episodes will be added to Netflix in 104 countries including Spain, Italy, Finland, Turkey, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the UAE on September 1. That same day, Ouran High School Host Club will be available in 190 countries, and Claymore in 136 countries.

The new partnership builds on previous deals for Nippon TV reality series Old Enough!, as well as 30 of its biggest drama series and entertainment shows which air on Netflix in its Asian markets.

Along with Hunter X Hunter, Ouran High School Host Club and Claymore, the other titles included in the new deal are Death Note, Death Note: Relight 1 and Death Note: Relight 2 (in 14 markets); From Me To You, From Me To You 2nd Season, Berserk, Parasyte The Maxim, Nana, Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting! and Monster.

yea, I was just wondering because I know the 2016 Berserk series was on some streaming service but I couldn't find anything for the '97 series outside of YouTube.

Still have to finish monster. Stopped about halfway. Loved 97 Berserk. I also loved new berserk besides it's issues.

But then I found out that wasn't the real one, or there was another one, something like that. Manga was still going strong? Then fast forward to now and then I see Berserk on Netflix, but it's a trilogy of movies, I think. Is that what I watched way back in high school, just enhanced? Is it like FMA vs FMA:B where the first time they had to make things up, but this is the real story?

Anyways, I did enjoy Berserk.

the '97 Berserk series and the movie trilogy on Netflix cover the same arc from the manga - The Golden Age Arc. so it's basically the same story but condensed for time.

but yea, the manga is still going on even though the creator died.

Monster uses to be on Netflix forever ago. I got like halfway through and got bored. I'd like to finish it.

Hoping they redub Ippo. The original is hilariously bad and I don't think it got very far. On the upside, it's fine watching subtitles because you hardly need to read. "Liver blow!!!" is pretty understandable even in the native tongue.
I am wondering how Netflix will handle some racist aspects though. They may just edit out scenes completely.

It vaguely pretends to cover Black Swordsman for 2 episodes then just zips on over to the Conviction Arc, and then does part of the Millennium Falcon Arc.

I take back a good majority of the bad things I said about you Netflix, fucking based. If you get good numbers, please see if you can work with Del Toro a little more after Pinocchio, the Monster adaptation he's been interested in doing for years is literally the only live action adaptation of a manga I give a shit about.

We may not have gotten to see the Lost Children arc animated yet, but at least 2016 skipped it and didn't fuck it up

a good chunk of those series could get a remake someday.

Claymore, Beserk, Oran could all use fresh exposure and with them being on netflix they can get some much needed attension brought to them.

the manga is almost starting to get good again.

its been like 4 years since Ippo retired IRL, I think its only been a few months in series since then. He's a trainer now and has been clearly learning a lot and continues to train in order to use the infinite angle dempsey roll. in a minute of sparring he fucked up Volg's ribs bad with a shot that I think was partially blocked. And Wally is taking on Ricardo. It feels like Ippo is less than 50 issues from coming back.

I feel like Ippo will come back out of retirement in a volume or 2. Probably getting really close to it after the Wally fight happens, honestly.

yeah my guess is being in the corner as Wally as fighting there will be a point where he realizes that's where he wants to be. Like he will be imagining what he would do to try to give advice and starts maybe doing some shadow boxing ringside trying to time Ricardo. Ricardo catches it out of the corner of his eye which gives Wally his first real chance and lands a clean solid shot on Ricardo to get him to go Quetzalcoatl mode.

I'm really fucking digging this arc btw. You know Ippo would just need to get like some dumb power up or never ever beat Ricardo if he kept on going and being outclassed by natural talents.

Right now, Ippo is stronger than ever, and despite not having done actual sparring and boxing, going even with a champion of another weight class... you know Ippo's gotta be world class and a strong contender for beating Ricardo. Wally could be a good catalyst, or at least Sendo. I just want Ippo back before Ricardo is just considered way past his prime but still the best.

After the time skip the manga tried to make him more useful. Don't know how well it worked as I lost track of the series by that point.
