Ooo really feels good using a Chain Attack to melt half a boss' health bar.

God damn music going insane on this K fight.

Be careful afterwards as just after the fight was one of the two times I crashed in the game, and if you do you'll have to do that whole sequence again. Before moving around, once all the cutscenes are over, save on the off chance it happens to you. :X

And yeah, the consul themes are baller.

That's good. For spending ~125 hours on the game two crashes isn't terrible, but it was definitely annoying when it happened.

I'm looking at the build up on classes and how fast I'm getting ranks.

And I had noticed there's room in that list of classes for a LOT more and I'm just >:3 at the prospect.

There are a few classes that unlock through progressing the main story, but most of them are through sidequests (look for the yellow ?'s on the map). So, time to do some exploring =3

I'm sure I'm not the first to notice that from the back Ethel basically looks like Sephiroth. Not just the silver hair and the long coat, but the pauldrons help with that a lot.

Feel free to spend silver nopon coins as they come to you in abundance and get auto sold if you go past 99. Save the gold nopon coins and buy the level X gems when you have enough which will probably be around end game.

Ethel is one of my favourite characters.

Yeah, this. It costs 1 silver coin to cook any recipe without needing the ingredients. So that's what I mostly used them for. Still ended up having 99 silver coins most of the time.

And it sucks because the food was apparently not even working until the patch last week lol.

If you save 99 gold nopon coins, you can buy an accessory that allows non-healers to revive people. I found this super handy during high level unique fights.

Money is worthless so just buy your food. Use the coins to buy class levels for low affinity characters: it will save you from having to waste time later.

And yeah, RIP all but the two food items that were worthless (the first two available actually worked).

You get one for free, though. I can't remember where I found it, but it was in a chest somewhere. I have one, and I didn't spend the nopon coins on it.

Oh it's too late for that now lol. I manually maxed out the classes this past week. Took like 11-12 hours of grinding. Won't go into more detail on that though, because TC is still pretty early on =P

Also there's that list I was looking for. Some tasty choices once I get them. Hey, neat, there's Elma's Full Metal Jaguar.

RIP. The only comment about using coins on classes is that there are basically no Defender classes so even with D ranks you might just normally level them as a "budget" sort of thing. I guess something else that might help if you plan on doing 100%: have Noah mostly max out non-Attacker roles. Without spoiling anything he eventually gets a lot easier to level Attacker roles with, and every non-Attacker class that you max out prior to your grind later on will make it go by that much faster.

Thanks for the tips. Counting up I counted five Defenders, seven Healers, and eleven Attackers. That's a bit of unbalance.

Is there value in mixing up the counts of roles? I wonder how well a 3A 1D 2H crew would work.

From my experience it's better to have a more balanced team until you have specific skills/accessories to benefit experimentation, like skills that boost Art Recharge speed if non-Defenders are targeted (so you can have none or a mediocre Defender in the party composition and it'd still work). Early game 'til...halfway I think kinda punishes you for not having a balanced team.

I can live with that.

The recipes were glitched so that they didn't give the boosts, except for two of them.

Whoops realized I hadn't put up a bit, but honestly I haven't done a ton of note apart from pushing southward. Feeling like I might actually have the levels to take down B now.

Also took down Q. Funny how he's like "I'm fine" and the thing explodes and it's like "oops no I'm not".

Also enjoying some spoils of proper application of Overkill on my most recent Unique enemy kill. That felt good.

Not particularly, from what I've seen. A lot more people like/dislike characters based almost entirely from their usability as a class/ally from what I've seen, and his class is generally considered pretty funky as far as tanks are concerned (good if you get Awakening up on him, bad if you don't).

That said he is super wholesome and you'll like the plot development involving him.

Ah ha haaaa, found last year's model of Eunie. Now the big question is how long has this been going on. In most great stories, it's been going on for a LONG time.

Fuck me, I finally beat it. 198 hours, all on hard. Good god, I think this is the most time I've ever spent on a single playthrough of a single player RPG. The existential crisis will hit me shortly.

Oh Xenoblade 3 has difficulty settings? I might be more inclined to try it if I can just set it to easy mode and have a stress free playthrough. I also skipped 2 for obvious reasons after having fell in love with 1.

Yeah, there are three difficulty settings. If you just want the story, sitting it on easy would be the best bet. There's no difference between normal and hard except for how much damage gets done to you and how little damage you do to enemies. I'm sure that accounted for most of the length of my playthrough.

Eh, there are a lot more differences than just the damage on Normal->Hard. A big one (that kind of ruins a couple of the classes ~.~) is that enemies get a substantial resistance to ailments. While it's not a big deal super early on, the only debuff you can apply worth using at all is a -Def one, later on there is a pretty big "strategy divergence" when you get access to classes that are almost entirely based on having access to a debuff. Stalker is a good example as the class is entirely based on applying Poison and then getting a bunch of bonus damage when hitting enemies with Poison. This culminates pretty hard when you get access to a class that has ways to apply Bind, something it can even pull off against some bosses. There is obviously a pretty enormous difference between having to fight the boss and it, quite literally, being unable to do anything as you beat it to death.

I checked out some youtube videos and battles have all 6 party members fighting at once? That's insane.

On the one hand it sounds great but I'm worried they make enemies damage sponges to compensate for having your entire party whaling on them. I remember playing a crappy game called white knight chronicles that had high hp damage sponge enemies and never again.

It's a mixed bag. When you aren't good at the combat, which is going to end up being like 80% of the game because the combat itself is kind of complex and you won't know how to optimize damage at all, a couple of the bosses will be tanky (ie. basically every Consul fight). However, once you get used to the combat and figure out how to min-max even slightly the only fight that will come across as tanky (even if you replayed the entire game) is the final boss. And even then "tanky" really wouldn't be the right terminology. Inversely you will have a "dump on enemies" meter for most of the game and that alone basically erases any boss if used twice (frankly even once is enough for most everything), meaning that there is a hard cap on the length of every fight.

In effect this means that there really isn't a way for a boss to really come across as tanky once you've made it through the very opening segments, in which there are no bosses that are particularly beefy and thus the complaint means little. At least if you use all of the options available to you. The only sort of exception is that Xenoblade hasn't ever shied away from letting you fight bosses way above your level (like, the second area is where they throw the giant murder monkey that is level 80 when you aren't going to be more than level 10) and if you fought those they would definitely come across as tanky. At least if you ignore the fact that they would instantly melt your entire party.

I don't know if it's on purpose, but I love how Riku goes off on his little self-congratulatory spiels and then the camera just cuts back to Noah looking blankly so he can be like "Well, anyway..."

Damn. Full Metal Jaguar draws a lot of aggro for an Attack class, but it's got some oomph in those Arts.
