so they can sneak in updates to slow down your older phone? no thank you for that gimmick!

I mean if your phone is like 5 years old you cant expect it to run blisteringly fast lol

actually tbh those days might even be over, iPhones today are beasts and there isnt many apps that come close to using the full power

mine is 3 years old and runs just as good as day one, even the battery

It's a cpu governor that downclocks it when the battery is doing bad/failing. When you replace the battery, it goes back to normal. You can also turn off the thing, but that was added later after the complaints.

Apple is actually running into a problem now bc theres no reason to buy the new phone every 2-3 years so they need to find a new way to make up for the loss in purchases

sadly, theyre discussing ads on the lock screen

Im p sure I read about lock screen ads, but it also had a lot of blowback so I dont think it will happen

doesnt safari use google as the standard anyway? How would they modify to profit?

why wouldn't apple just tell their customers about the battery instead of being shady and downclocking the cpu? who knows what else they're hiding!

So the person can use the phone longer without constantly shutting down or dying since newer software was more demanding and would have made the phone unusable. It's done on older phones and only when the battery is bad, which means very old phones.

I don't think it was a good idea to keep it from people, but they were sued for it and were forced to be more transparent on these things and they have been in the several years since the lawsuit. You're gonna need evidence to substantiate a claim that they're hiding something more other companies aren't.

They trade. Apple takes the obvious Android features like 5 years after Android did it and pretends they're the greatest in the world for thinking of it.

(flagship) android takes all the anti-consumer BS that Apple pulls and does it themselves after Apple makes it okay.

ultrasonic fingerprint reader or a fingerprint reader on the power button are the main ways to still do that

I've absolutely no desire to ever have a physical button when the ultrasonic reader does the job and frees up space for more screen

Talk about total control of your own devices now. My phone still has a swap-able battery chamber, physical sim card, a headphone jack, a physical home button, and micro SD card slot, you know actual features that you actually want on a phone and are practical.

lawsuit was only dismissed it because the courts claimed no 'harm' was demonstrated

i'll grant that they are better in that they don't engage in the selling of your information, but their policies regarding right to repair (and lets not act as if their self-repair program is remotely sufficient), grossly overcharging for simple accessories like fucking wheels for their computers, their walled garden and opposition to side loading (the steps to do so on iphones are not difficult, but far more than most people ever would go through)

Yes whatever. Apple does plenty of anti-consumer shit. Everyone knows this. But apple does plenty of pro-consumer shit as well, different from the pro-consumer stuff Google does. Its almost as if both products have different pros and cons or something, but the google sheep cant accept that and cant accept that different people value different things.

My S10E still has a headphone jack, physical SIM card, microSD slot and the super cool touch based power button that I can use to swipe down notifications, so having features like those isn't that removed, though the phone is entering its 4th year.

And if you go outside the "flagship" phones, all these features never really went away. They're only being taken away for the top-tier stuff, because I guess wired headphones are for poor people.

But holy **** how old does you phone have to be to have a removable battery? That's something that doesn't really even still exist with cheaper phones.

I'm still using the original LG ThinQ, and I was being picky when I picked it. I was deliberately looking for a phone with an aux port and this was it lol. The newer version looks awesome too but I don't have reason to upgrade. This thing doesn't die fast, it doesn't randomly restart or any of the "time for an upgrade" signs.

Hopefully Apple finally makes a product meant to last someday lol. My last Apple device was an iPod Nano. I still have it but the screen is dead lol.

iPhone is 1000% the best phone, but it definitely does have its downsides

The very main reason it is the best phone is simply because it is without a doubt the most secure phone. Is it totally hacker-proof? No. But It is in its own league at the top when it comes to security

This is more or less a lie. Honestly speaking, most devices are ridiculously secure these days, it's usually the human end that isn't. It's equivalent to walking around with a full squad of bodyguards all the time, but you choose to run off the side of a building instead of walk on the stairs for most people, because it's the quickest way to the bottom floor.
