Zac Efron is finally reacting to the rumors that he received a new face last year when an image circulated that showed him with a slightly different appearance.

Fans thought the 34-year-old actor might have undergone plastic surgery. Now, Zacis speaking out about what happened to his face and how he found out about the rumors in the first place.

If you dont know, in April 2021, Zacparticipated in Bill Nyes Earth Day! The Musical video. You can see a still from the video embedded above. Zacwas only featured in the video for a split second, but fans couldnt help but notice a jaw line that looked different than what we were used to seeing.

In his new interview with Mens Health, the writer explained that Zac had actually shattered his jaw. He explained how, saying hed been running in his house with socks on and fell, causing him to slip and hit his chin against a granite fountain. He passed out and when he regained consciousness, his chin bone was hanging off his face.

Zac explained the reason why his face looked different is because of his masseter muscles, which are on the cheeks and are used for chewing, overcompensated due to his injury.

The masseters just grew, Zac said. They just got really, really big.

The writer noted that, for his interview, His jaw area looks much as it has always looked.

His mom was the first person to tell him that the Internet believed he got plastic surgery.

If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do, he added, I definitely wouldnt be able to do this work.

So he did have plastic surgery, just not entirely for cosmetic reasons. Don't see why he wouldn't just spin it like that.

My friend broke his nose in a car wreck and looks completely different now.

I can believe it but i can also believe in a celebrity being vain enough to lie about it.

In reality, i don't really care. Some people are just insecure as well and get work done. Not my business.

On not wanting his Baywatch body anymoreor rather, not wanting to do what he did to achieve that body: That Baywatch look, I dont know if thats really attainable. Theres just too little water in the skin. Like, its fake; it looks CGId. And that required Lasix, powerful diuretics, to achieve. So I dont need to do that. I much prefer to have an extra, you know, 2 to 3 percent body fat.

On how long the ill effects of his Baywatch training lasted: I started to develop insomnia and I fell into a pretty bad depression, for a long time. Something about that experience burned me out. I had a really hard time recentering. Ultimately they chalked it up to taking way too many diuretics for way too long, and it messed something up.

On his love life: Ive really been taking time to focus on, you know, self-fulfillment and trying to find my groove. I know that probably when I meet the right person, its going to be when I least expect it.

but thats why he is barely in teen wolf's final season. he was stull in recovery for most of it and a year worths of movie projects he was in had to be pushed back which slowed his career down a bit but it feels like its starting to recover
