Forgotten Land may surpass it at some point, but as of now, the first one is still the biggest seller with over 5 million sold (which is more than Adventure, Super Star, and Crystal Shards' sales combined)

Yep. The one that has only five levels and no copy Abilities.

I remember being able to beat that game in like 20 minutes, it's kinda surprising how lacking it is in content even for a Gameboy game

Extra Mode and Config Mode are supposed to extend the playtime, but yeah, you're still just going through the same five levels again.

It's not like the game is bad or anything, but boy does it feel primitive by today's standards.

Kirby's Adventure on the other hand is still very modern-feeling in 2022 and is a contender for best NES game.

It's the only Kirby game I've ever personally owned, so that makes sense. It was great compared to other GB platformers at the time, but beyond that I just never seemed to have any interest in the series.

It makes sense in a way; the simpler Nintendo games which launch franchises tend to launch those franchises, or transform them, because of the comparatively extreme success. I believe Super Mario Bros. is still the highest selling Mario Game (ironically, its closest challenger is New Super Mario Bros., which of course started its own semi-franchise and reigns supreme there), and the first Pokemon generation definitely still tops them all. The original Legend of Zelda is the fourth highest selling Zelda game (the highest selling is Breath of the Wild, and history is out on how much its success will transform the series but I predict it'll do just that), and Metroid Dread only recently beat out the original Metroid for the best selling title in the franchise if I'm not mistaken. Donkey Kong Country is also the best selling Donkey Kong console game, and is both its own franchise apart from the IP and irrevocably transformed the face of the IP.
