Some of it was clearly about subverting expectations. The most powerful guy is in a wheelchair, the most intelligent fights like a savage, etc.

Kinda crazy that when X-Men came out, it didn't have the popularity of Spider-Man, Fantastic Four or The Avengers

Pretty sure Professor X isn't a telekinetic either, he's telepathic. Jean is both.

That said, I was amused enough by this harmless thing that I don't really care about the details.

I liked the issue in X-Factor where he tries to arrest Jamie Madrox and blasts him when he resists.

For anyone who doesn't know, Jamie is also known as Multiple Man because he has the power to clone himself using kinetic force. Usually he just stomps his feet to make one clone. Cyclops' hitting him with the kinetic eyes made like fifty clones.

I've not really read any other comics with Cyclops in them, but that sure made him seem like a dumbass.
