Never seen the movies. Never read the books. I know it tried to be a rival to Harry Potter. As far as I know, the author isn't a bigot, and I think is an expert in ancient world mythology I heard.

My nephew has read the entire franchise. He told me the Greek school is not the only one in the world and there is one for Egyptian kids and Norse kids. And maybe more. I think the other pantheons have their own books. But the movies only ever did the Greeks

It sounds like a more interesting world than Harry Potter, to me. If they use the other pantheons eventually on Disney plus it could be cool

lol. They couldn't acquire the rights to Harry Potter, so they got the off-brand version instead.

Then again, they did that with the Justice League and now the Avengers are a much bigger name.

I was a pretty big fan of the series when it came out. The movies sucked donkey balls, and this teaser has earned a lot of goodwill from the fans as it's basically the prologue word for word. The cast is more age appropriate as well.

Eh, not really. For the Norse and Egyptians it's a bit different. There is a Roman camp very similar to Camp Half-Blood, though.

I dont give a fuck anymore, but before all the mcu stuff I would have disagreed vehemently with that lol. Not that I disliked the mcu, I was just a lot younger then.

I'll be impressed if they have a theme park section dedicated to him which is better than the Wizarding World from Universal.

I've never read the books, but this looks solid and the author having direct involvement is encouraging.

It's actually kind of cool how they deal with it. They are the same being, but different personalities. When Greek demigods and Roman demigods meet up conflict tends to happen. The Romans aren't in the first series but they get involved in the 2nd.

Didn't know they did more books after the initial series. I actually read the first 5 books, and they were entertaining for young adult literature, even though the greek mythology subject matter can get a bit much for even pg-13 rating unless you really censor it. If anyone has read Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak series, they're both similar in trying to be the next Harry Potter, and both are actually pretty good young adult fantasy series. At least I thought so 15 to 20 years ago

I was already too old when the first series came out, I'm definitely too old now to read the new books albeit mildly curious.

I read the first 3 books and they were actually pretty good. The author has a good sense of humor. Idk why I stopped reading them, but it wasn't because I lost interest.

i listened to the audiobooks few months ago because i missed the books while i grew up. i'm 32 and i enjoyed the story. so don't let your age hold you back to jump into the journey

Wait what? So like Percy's dad, Poseidon, suddenly has a different personality when he changes into Neptune? A multiple personality disorder type of thing?

I'm definitely wondering if I should pick up the books now, I've run out of reading material

Exactly! It also gives them massive headaches and shit. The gods where both aspects are similar are the least effected. There isn't a huge amount of this type of interaction in the series though, so if you're mostly hyped about that then temper the expectations a bit. There is a scene with Mars/Ares early in the 2nd series where he swaps between them in front of Percy unwillingly.

Yep. They hold up pretty well no matter your age.

I remember he had good hooks. The first line of the fifth book (finale at the time) was "The end of the world started when a Pegasus landed on the hood of my car"

The Percy Jackson movies were the first step on the path of us seeing Alexandra Daddario's boobs. I'll be forever grateful for that

At no point did I ever feel like Cirque Du Freak was trying to be Harry Potter. It's basically a good step into the horror genre for young adults.
