Im talking about the companies that give you X amount of fresh meals to cook per week for an X amount of money. Ive always wondered about it but I assumed its not that good since it is heavily advertised and Youtubers are advertising it. YouTubers advertising usually means that they arent that good.

How good is the food? How expensive is it? Is it worth it? Has anyone even bothered to try it?

I think this all depends on if you already know how to cook.

I've wanted to try these too though.

The food is good. It is expensive and it's incredibly wasteful. If a recipe calls for one egg you'll get an egg in its own plastic container. It creates a ton of trash.

So weve done Sunbasket primarily, Blue Apron and Home Chef a couple times, and Freshly. In general, theyre all kinda expensive and youd of course be better of cost-wise just shopping on your own.

Freshly was decent when we were remodeling our kitchen, as you just microwaved the meals. As for quality most were decent, Id say, but sometimes youd get something where it wasnt super great, and kind of a shame considering the cost.

My wife uses some meal planning app now. It just gives her recipes and a shopping list for groceries. She likes that well enough and its of course way cheaper.

Probably not worth it to give em their cut

Similar to overpaying on Amazon for convenience

We had Hello Fresh for a few months and it was delicious. The food is definitely great, but Injust hate how long it takes to prepare. They underestimate the prep time advertise. Like it might say it can be prepared in 30 minutes but takes closer to an hour if you are not a master cook. It wasn't convenient for our lifestyle.

We switched to Fresh N Lean, which sends the meals already ore-made. You just pop them in a microwave and eat. Similar price and much more convenient, but the taste drops in quality. Which makes sense. I just put some seasoning on it and it works for me. I love that the meals are portioned to help with calorie control and maximize protein.

What you will like depends on how much time you have to prepare the meals. I think they are worth the price for people with busy lifestyles, always on the go, but still want to eat balanced meals and not just trash foods like fast food.

EDIT: Though I just discovered a mom and pop food prep company near where I live. I did my first order with them for next week. If the quality is comparable, I might switch to them, even if they are a bit pricier, just to support the small businesses.
