How would somebody even do that. "Get rid of guns" in a country where they outnumber people.

Stopping the sale of new guns or even just on certain types of guns still wouldn't get rid of the existing ones. Making them illegal to possess and expecting everyone to just turn theirs in is such an impractical boogey man it's weird to me people are actually scared it's something that is gonna happen nationwide. Or secretly hoping for so they can justify their arsenals and ammunition hoarding in a roundabout way.

Because the pro-gun party decided to be wrong about literally every other issue, including many I find more important than guns.

Perhaps because in the interim while guns are legal and the party that has demonstrated tangible interest in overthrowing the government is loaded with people obsessed with them, its not a bad idea to have a gun
