The idea is simple: shuffle a standard deck of cards face-down. Flip over one card at a time, each card determines how many push-ups you do. The 2 through 10 cards are self-explanatory. Aces are 1, Jacks are 11, Queens 12 and Kings 13.

For beginners, give yourself one minute of rest in-between each card. For those of you up for a real challenge, give yourself only 30 seconds of rest in-between.

You are allotted two three-minute breaks throughout the workout, to be chosen at any time by you, when you feel like taking them.

If you get through the entire deck, you will have completed 364 push-ups.

You can use the following website to make it easier on yourself:

https://www.random.org/playing-cards/

Just type "52" into the Draw box and click Draw Cards.

To make it even tougher, check the red and black joker boxes to incorporate those two cards into the deck (ergo, type "54" into the Draw box) and each joker is worth 20 push-ups. This brings the total to 404 push-ups. For instance, this is the deck I just worked through, took me about an hour:

I'm fairly confident I can't do 350 push ups in an hour.

If you need a break during a set, go for it. The idea is to get through it all, not necessarily in a certain amount of time. It's a mental challenge too. I wanted to quit several times.

To clarify what I just said, if you've drawn a jack so you're doing 11 push ups, and you don't have the energy to finish all 11, let's say you're at 7, then just take a few moments to catch your breath, lie down for a second, whatever, but finish the other 4.

The 3 minute breaks I mentioned earlier are just that. A complete break from the workout. Get a drink, walk around, stretch, etc

(1) incorrect, because I'm on this site and I did the joker version (404 push ups) in under an hour

(2) rather presumptuous for you to say it's stupid when by your own admission you can't even do it; you're in no position to criticize

You don't make any sense. You've admitted you can't do it. I just finished it, and I can tell you I'm completely exhausted, I have an amazing pump, and I had to psych myself up to finish it.

FYI, Ray Lewis used this as a workout routine. So I'm gonna value a legendary sports player's take on this over yours.

I think I could do it. I'm in decent shape but I'm also prone to failing these tasks that are more mental strength than actual strength. Might try it some time soon if I remember.

Also don't see why this is considered so stupid by that dude above. But I guess you have to be cynical about things you know you have no shot at doing.

Lmao don't project I used to do this all the time. I eventually change the aces to 11s and then 21s.

Go for it, bro! When I first started this, I'd give myself a minute or more in between each card, depending on the draw and how tired I was. Gradually reduced the time in between until now I can do it all within an hour.

I'll reiterate that the most important thing, at least in my opinion, is not so much how fast you finish it, but simply that you finish it.

Also, man it feels so good to get an Ace or a 2 after a couple face cards lol

or just do 350-400 push ups and do them in like sets of 10. just add in 2 breaks after you do 100 when you feel the need to.

I liked the card version because it felt less boring and more engaging.

Yeah I dig the card version, it mixes it up and keeps it entertaining. Once you get used to it, it gets pretty easy

I agree with the other guys. Not saying the card version is better, it just works better for me. It's unpredictable every time, you don't know exactly what you're gonna get.

I've also considered changing it up at some point to where each suit represents a different exercise. Push ups, crunches, jumping jacks and burpees, for instance
