Definitely disagree Hes just wrong Like others have said, it can be hard for some people to even remember the 100 greatest moments of their lives And for some people, those moments do include video games. But even if they dont, that doesnt mean that playing video games for a long time in a form of depression Can it be? Sure. But tons of normal things can be a form a depression depending on the circumstances or person Just let people enjoy what they like And a few hours a week isnt even a lot I get a few hours of week gaming at work Punished_Blinx posted... https://twitter.com/djvlad/status/1569037480027996162?t=yDDCIWFdSfP5W70KTvLcVA&s=19 Nope. Still wrong. Its basically a hobby. Something you do for fun. Some people even make it a family thing. I know couples who game, and fathers who game with their sons, and people who just game for fun to keep boredom away from nothing really going on Its just something fun to do Why would this hobby be any different from any other hobby? Kan-Wan posted... We know people get on fine being on the inside and we know that if youre always inside playing video games your only experience will be those kind of memorable moments for your life. I think the guy has a point but he did a poor job of making it. Gaming is a very time consuming hobby, and it's easy to get absorbed and do it for long periods of time, which makes it easy to spend too much time on it. There are definitely a lot of people who would have better mental health if they cut their gaming time and spent more time with family / friends, or found other things to do in their time so their lives would be more balanced. I think that's what he was getting at with the "gaming is depression" line. Like I said, though, terrible way to put it, especially the "100 greatest moments" line. --- Go to this website for the TRUTH--if you can handle it! howbidenstoletheelection.com ... I mean, many hobbies can keep you inside, as well If the point in just being inside, he should just say that Depending on the gamer/game, gaming could get them outside more Well reading inside can mean holding the book and putting it down, but were at the point now where we have option to listen to the audio book AND do something else productive like clean your house.. or even take a look at it and say it needs cleaning >_> you can also cook inside while reading thanks to the audio portion that usually wont happen even if youre outside with a Switch.. it wont happen if youre landlocked with a controller in your hand and the game wont continue unless you break away from something else to address the game eventually you become someone whose whole psyche is established indoors.. your safety is indoors, you feel comfortable indoors, and those tendencies to disconnect become more real because the world of video games is much more engaging than a book is its the only form of media that gets you directly involved to that level if you were already on the way to feeling paranoia.. socially isolated.. disconnected.. well then youre probably going to become more so video gaming your whole life Some people manage it just fine.. but some dont ... Well reading inside can mean holding the book and putting it down, but were at the point now where we have option to listen to the audio book AND do something else productive like clean your house.. or even take a look at it and say it needs cleaning >_> But thats only if you listen to audio books. I dont have an amount, but there are plenty of people who dont. Like me. I love reading, but dont enjoy audio books. Id rather read myself If Im listening to something, its music or a podcast. So for me, and others, theres no difference in reading a book and playing a game inside And maybe you cant cook and game, but I can and have Many times Its definitely easier with some games like VNs (like Danganronpa), but still possible with other stuff Plus, even when cooking, Im not constantly doing stuff So, Id just be bored sitting there listening to a book And for all the games Ive played, and the amount of hours I put it then, not everyones psyche isnt always established indoors. If I exclude work, most of my gaming on switch is done outside Even if I include work, its be close And even though I easily reach double digits in gaming every week (and even on a day alone in some cases), I probably spend way to much time outside As for whether a game or a book is more engaging, thats subjective based on the person Some people cant get engaged in games at all, where some can easily get sucked into a book And the last sentence in the whole point. Some people Thats the problem. This guy acts like it has to be everybody. And even when youre explaining this, it doesnt fit everybody. Just let people love their lives. And even for the others who feel safer inside, why does that matter? People barely have to leave their houses anymore because everyone else wants to work from home and never leave already? --- Official King of Kings Switch FC: 7216-4417-4511 Add Me because I'll probably add you.
