I was born in 1986 and my first Nintendo was most definitely a NES.

The Game Boy was a very close second, if we're counting that.

My first console was a 2600 I got in '83 and my first Nintendo was a SNES I got in '94. Between that I owned a SMS, 7800, Tandy 1000 EX, a 286 pc, 386 pc, 486 pc.

My first was an NES. I was born in 88. I got it in 93. We didn't have money for current gen systems. The first time I had a console that was actually modern was the PS2 about halfway through it's life cycle.

i have a video game pneumonia story
i was in high school and came down with pneumonia
i missed like 2 months of school and the sickest i had ever been in my life. it was the only time i was ever puking sick
which was not a fun experience

anyway back then my bedroom was in the basement but my mother wanted me upstairs to keep an eye on me so she started sleeping on the couch and i spent my sickness in her room upstairs (my dad is a truck driver and spent most of his time on the rigs with his own trailer)

anyway i had just gotten final fantsy X-2 and it was set up in the bedroom
and i played the shit out of that game. i had a ton of fun with it and it made the pneumonia a bit more tolerable

its why to this day i have a soft spot for X-2

I'm 22 and I grew up with what my parents had. That's an NES, SNES, and Genesis. Not everyone is a product of when they were born

Depends on what you consider my first.

I have pictures of me at age 2 and 3 "playing" the NES. Then we got the SNES and honestly that's what I consider my first.

I had Intellivision, Colecovision, then nothing for a bunch of years, I was in high school and just had a gap where I wasn't interested in games for a while. Maybe I was influenced by the big video game crash in the 80's.

Then I got PS1 in the 90's and have always had some kind of console ever since then.

I was born in 1990 and my first gaming console was an NES that belonged to my dad. I was playing Mario as early as 3 years old.

My first owned Nintendo console was the Gamecube.

I played the NES, SNES, and N64 a bunch. I just never owned them.

I was born in the 90s, but wasn't allowed to even purchase a game system until I was like in middle school.

So excluding when I visited friends and families homes, most of my first gaming experience is actually with the NES.

Super Mario Bros, Pacman and this space game that I can't remember the name.

Only gen xers and geriatric millenials post here, so of course most of our first Nintendos were the NES.

Mine was actually an Atari.

My first gaming system was an Atari 2600

My dad had one, and I remember playing it when I was like 4-5. My older brother had a Gameboy that eventually went to me (Links Awakening FTW). We also had a Genesis. Looking back on it, we were poor as dirt but we always had a console.

You known how sometimes the older console is cheap when a new one comes out?

The first I played was NES. The first I owned was SNES.

I bought an NES years later when I was 14. It was actually my third NES console after the N64. To date, that makes it the final Nintendo console I've purchased.

First video game console was at my grandparents home, and they never updated past the NES. Had super Mario, and some bible game. They let me have it because I was the only one who ever messed with it. So yes, my first console was a NES.

My dad was a gamer he owned a NES, I was born on 88. He bought a SNES on release date, as I was growing up I played the NES first while my older siblings played the SNES.

I was born at the tail end of '89, and my mom sat down with me and taught me to play video games on a NES before she ever bought a SNES. Eat my entire ass, TC!

Not only that, not everyone's parents could afford to get the newest console at release. Some kids had the older consoles for a while still.

I had my parents get me a 5200 for Christmas one year (already had a NES), cause it was cheap, I had an itch to play old Atari games, and the cartridges were stupid cheap. Damn thing barely lasted a year before breaking down for seemingly no reason.

If you were born in the 90s, it would be pretty normal to play the super nintinedo.

Yeah the main issue I had was the controllers. In the end, one would move but not shoot and the other would shoot but not move. Limited me to just Pac-man out of the 7-8 games I had.

I did the usual beg until they give up to get the Nintendo. We went to Montgomery Wards and they had the 5200... my parents desperately tried to talk me into it since we had the 2600 and would have more games. I still chose the NES and I still have it... well technically got it back from my cousin whom I gave it to at one point.

You always hear people reminiscing about blowing into the cartridges because they weren't working. The reason they worked so shitty is because many people got decade old systems.
