Not necessarily.
And I did not mean it in an argumentative manner.
I was just kind of putting it out here.
It is an interesting fact, for anyone reading.

It's kinda funny that Penny Lane is actually a B-Side to one of their singles.

~The Beatles were an amazing band, no two ways about it.
I can't stop thinking about Charles Manson, mate. I didn't even wanna take a stab at the text.

But yeah

Let's talk about Surf Rock albums :)

I was gonna keep that to myself, champ

They're my favorite band, so it's obviously a D from me. To me they made the best music ever, they win at music. They're also the only band that I never get tired of. Even Zeppelin, Dylan, The Stones, and Floyd will wear thin after a few hours.

However, I will admit some people who treat them like gods are pretty annoying.

Oh, no that is well before that crazyness.
...No that one is straight froward.
They were able to fill and LP with ligit music.
Not a lot of acts were doing that back then.
And then they went so far as to turn into genera.

((Also, You should watch, The Rutles.))

^^Anyone in this topic should^^

I know but still

I'm serious about that name too. The Beatles, haha. That's was was truly special. They used the name to sell the faces and vice versa for an early LP style, of which I'm certain that was far from the first, and probably originated on some Christmas albums. Or compilations. As far as rock goes, you're might be right. Im sure that may have even been one of the first, if not the first, use of it in that manner. At the same time, what it is is a collection of radio hits, so it's a natural extension of the album's identity, to have a small track listing, and they weren't 100% sure who they were selling to at that point, or they were trying to sell to everyone, and also to get young people to think it was an album exclusively for young people by young people, but also impress everyone's parents, so

At the end of the day, I think it wasnt the greatest stroke of genius on that album cover

If anything, the entire cover screams "Buy it or not, we're on your local FM, we're in your schools, we're on the television, we're in your stores, and you love us. Also isn't Ringo funny? And how do you think we are in private?" And of course whatever was going on with their producer and marketing team.and that's that

Producing such a vast array of song styles that any random person will inevitably like *one* of your songs, but that's about it, is not that impressive. That's a jack of all trades, master of none philosophy.

Metal? Its popular, the fact it is was because of The Beatles and their willingness to make something like Helter Skelter catchy to begin with.

Electronic music? Its basis is in using the studio to create new songs by pasting together different sounds. Thats thanks to The Beatles.

Folk music? They had so much clout that people interested in that niche made the genre popular to the common man.

You take the jack of all trades thing as a negative while The Beatles made it into their success proving a whole entire mindset wrong. What band can slay philosophy right at its feet? Lol

The true mark of a great musical act is to know yourself and perfect it, and get people to love it. Elvis Presley is stylistically narrower than the Beatles, yet Elvis had arguably just as many fans, just as many fervent fans, than the Beatles. And he was just one man.

The Beatles were the first band to walk away from that nonsense. Thats literally their entire legacy >_>

I'm not even a huge Elvis fan but I'll always respect him and hold him to a higher regard than the Fab Four who experimented ad nauseam and everyone ate it up because they were high as a kite or caught up in Beatlemania.

The Beatles succeeded in being a band for both musicians and the regular folk. Id say Elvis capitalized more on the hysteria thing than The Beatles considering The Beatles absolutely hated the attention they got to the point they didnt want to go on tour again. Cant say that about Elvis <_<

No, I'm not. I've never once argued that The Beatles sucked despite my dislike of their music and then (mostly just John Lennon tho )

Talent doesn't mean shit if you make bad music with it. Mark Tremonti is a talented guitar player, but Creed still made dogshit bad music.

I may be bias because I grew up with him, but Garth Brooks is great, not quite worth #2 ever for sales, but he has legit good music.

Give a listen to tracks like Much Too Young, The Dance, Friends in Low Places, The Thunder Rolls, and That Summer then listen to the shlock on "country" radio these days and see the big quality difference. Garth ain't no Johnny Cash or Waylon Jennings, but he's got great tunes if you don't already hate country.

I still would lean slightly towards overrated however

Meh

Folk was the basis for a lot of other music no doubt, but I dont think people were ready for a MEGA POP HIT ala Adelle or someone like Katy Perry crossing over to a genre and opening up those doors for people with only exposure to trippy things or love songs to go and check out the entirety of a particular genre

People knew who Bob Dylan was.. but I dont have any doubts his popularity grew much greater when The Fab 4 were interviewed about how he was an influence on them

No one says that you have to like the Beatles. But the quickest, surest way to mark oneself as musically ignorant is to say 'the Beatles suck / are overrated.' The odds are overwhelmingly good that if you got to meet your personal all-time favorite band and said 'the Beatles suck / are overrated' in their presence, they'd laugh in your face.

Actually I'd say The Kinks did more than The Beatles, but given the topic and tone, I thought I'd do a little trolling.

Helter Skelter is still de facto, and the spirit of metal that went into its creation is undeniable.

I had this insane dream. Maybe it belongs more in the anime thread, or a Queen thread (lollll)

but I had a dream that I was running, y'know , jogging. Right off the main road, behind some gated off casinos, a residential side street I'd never been down before. Well, let me tell you something, I don't normally jog. Anyway, there must have been a college back there or something because there were college kids holding a sports or running drill on the same street. A bunch of guys in shorts standing around shooting the breeze is what I saw. So I decided to jog right through their group. The instructor was a man maybe about my age, wearing a navy blue jumpsuit, sporting slightly bleached blonde hair, cool blue eyes like a wolf, and a demeanor that told me everything. A two-faced goody two shoes who engages in a lot of favoritism and manipulation and throws himself in the mix and can't leave his glory days behind him.

Well, I decided I wasn't gonna jog all the way around the casino to get home, so I turned right around and jogged right back through his group. He kinda looked at me like "What do you think you're doing?"

Well get this, I was so busy thinking about the situation that I wasn't paying attention to the massive group of hot women turning the corner and jogging right past me. All of a sudden I was surrounded by laughing, incredibly attractive women moving their bodies with purpose. I know I didn't stop in the middle of the road or anything, but I felt myself falter. It made me laugh. I instinctively looked behind me and met the instructor dead in the eye. He looked like he legitimately hated me now and also wanted to switch places. Lol

Incredible
