I had one high school classmate who was ending her second marriage before she was 21. But I also know at least 2 friends who married their teen sweetheart so who knows.

You really should wait until late-20s at the very least before you marry. That's when the brain stops developing and you have more life experience

I'm sure the earlier you get married, the higher the chance of failure. Though, it ultimately comes down to the maturity and life plans of the two individuals.

No way.

My recommendation would be to wait until your mid 20s at the absolute earliest to get married.

I learned pretty early that marriage in general isn't a good idea. Nearly everyone in my family has been divorced at least once.

No. I was 21 (almost 22) when I got married 27 years ago, but I was almost finished with grad school (teaching program). Even with that I wouldnt recommend it. People change a lot in their 20s.

Well, I wasn't 18... but I couldn't legally drink... and my wife is 18 months younger than me.

I should also say, that my wife regularly says we were stupid as hell to get married so young.

I got married at 23. Been married 10 years now. It's what you make it. Have had ups and downs, but it's a commitment. The best advice I ever got for a happy marriage is to spend at least 30 minutes a day doing something that your partner doesn't like to do and do it for them. Be that dishes, laundry, walking the dog, etc. It's been effective as hell for my relationship.

I'm 44 and didn't marry at 18, but I did eventually marry someone I met when I was 19.

I also know couples that I graduated High School with that are still together today.

Granted, I also know people from my HS on their third marriage.

So mileage varies.

No, I don't think it's a good idea. It's anecdotal, but everyone I know who married that long either had a very unhappy marriage or divorced. You're different people when you're 18, and by the time you get into your 20s and 30s, you either become people with different goals and ambitions or you feel like you "missed out" on life.
