The ones that we work hard to save but still don't make it. And frustrating volunteers.

No, we take in kittens, mostly from the city shelter or strays that people find an are for them until they can be spayed/neutered and put up for adoption.

Well you can't just go around mentioning kittens and not delivering pics.

Hmmm, we've had many on the verge of death neonates that survive and grow up to find their forever homes. This season we had a litter of 4 kittens that were newly born and their umbilical cords were all wrapped around each other. The vet had to do an emergency 'surgery' to separate them. The all survived and went on to be adopted.

If we did that, we wouldn't be able to help more kittens! The kittens are thankfully in another room from the office space as well, but we will sometimes take particularly attention craving kittens and sit with them at our desks while working.

They are our main resource for caring for the animals, so there can be literal life and death situations where they are uncommunicative, neglect to inform of us of important issues, or go against the recommendations/guidelines of the program/our doctors.

How'd you end up working there? Was it what you expected? Do you have cats or kittens of your own? What are the average people the visit like?
