This is probably hard to understand for people raised on Twitter and reddit since they're barely moderated, but the idea with older forums was to only let people say the kind of things you could in mixed company or at least the kind of things that wouldn't earn you a sock on the jaw.

Expecting to be able to have crude discussions about sex or just insult people freely on a board that children were originally intend to visit is just unrealistic.

Make a community board and I bet you can have most of the stuff you keep getting hit for.

No, it's not. This place used to have some rough rules, and back then the mods could/would just mod you for anything. Things have really improved around here.

I guess a more apt term is from then to now is like piss being purified into drinking water. It isn't lovely but it's a lot better than what it was.
