Economy of energy ( to oversimplify, less to be gained from something that eats something that eats something else), and also hunting things that can fight back is dumb. --- https://www.joincampaignzero.org/ Guide, it's Guide, it's that Guide ... Copied to Clipboard!

Smallville posted... but don't almost all herbivores also fight back? Most have some way of fighting back, but primarily that's for escape/defense/disincentive. Imagine your primary food source being something you need to track and hunt down, except now it tracks and hunts you, too. Energy is passed up the food chain. The more links in the chain, the less energy there is to go around. You get more energy from plants than from meat, but by the time a predator eats you, you burnt some of that off. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ease of catching the prey probably does play some role. I understand the food chain aspect to when it comes to flavor and energy. But I recall a comedian pointing out horse meat tastes good but there is a reason we eat cow over it. Caveman went up to horse and hoisted a rock over his head to bash it. Horse neighs and gallops away. So caveman goes to a cow. Does the same thing cow justvmoos and stares at him --- Cid- "looks like that overgrown lobster just got served!"
