Brother called me, told me stepdad (who was basically my dad growing up) is under investigation for taking videos of kids. It is pretty new and my brother couldnt get into the details.

Im. Kind of lost right now. He was always a violent asshole when I was young. He targeted me a lot, and would scare the crap out of me, hit me, and other violent acts. I dont remember anything sexual, but I always felt there was something weird behind it. Im worried ive blocked something out, because there were signs that something was going on with him. My mom had even asked me before if he had done anything to me. His whole family is full of weirdo alt-righters, and even some extreme hippies too. Im remembering more and more weird stuff growing up, and it sadly makes sense.

Im a teacher. I knew i grew up abused, and i never wanted to lead by force and always tried to listen and learn before acting.

I really hated him growing up. I remember one of the last things he ever did before he got divorced, was throwing me down on the ground and threatening me, i think hitting me, because i was teasing my brother (his son).

my other brother grew up violent, alcoholic, and cant get his life together. My other brother is a little weird too.

im ranting now, but i literally feel sick and i hate knowing that he has been doing this, and maybe even did it to me or my family. I hate him so much. He has manipulated me and made me hate myself as a kid, i dont even know what to think now, so i will stop.

wow, sorry. i didn't have good experiences with my stepdad either. luckily for me, he and my mom divorced, so i'm back to just having no dads. he was the kind of guy who was really nice at first, but then it'd just go away, and though he never hit me or my mom, but there was always verbal fights, he'd put me down, call me names, that sort of thing. he had a kid with my mom and he does fuck all to contribute for her, but still has joint custody so he isn't out of their lives, either. pretty much everyone i've met have had shitty dads/stepdads.

all i can say is i hope newer generations of men are patient and gentle and actually want to be good fathers, or just don't have kids at all

I hope the investigation turns up nothing and that he is only as bad as you already think he is. I also hope none of this affects you too badly, and that you can continue to move on and have a happier life.

What age did he come into your life? I feel like you'd remember something sexual happened if you met him after the age of 6-7

I loosely understand the concept of blocking out but both my weird.. kind of inappropriate encounters with adults when I was a child are still firmly planted in my mind

Update: He was arrested and is waiting trial for setting up cameras in girls bedrooms.

He had been in my life since I was about 3, for the guy who asked.

If you haven't sought counseling, I would highly suggest you do so. What you just described should never be dealt with alone.

Damn. That's not uncommon, to find out in adulthood that you'd been suppressing such heavy and horrible things from your memories. I hope you can get the support and care you need. Remember that there's therapists who can help with you figuring out what happened and processing it and being able to move on.

You're far from him and safe now, that's what matters most for you right now.
